I find it funny at first Smoke Is introduced as a gangster thug but in the story and interactions he’s one of the most wholesome characters, same with Scorpion, Sub Zero on the other hand definitely turned out to be a pretty big douchebag

except he’s not really on the bad side. Liu Kang, Madam Bo AND the Lin Kuei are in on it, it’s a test for Raiden and Kung Lao. Scorpion and Smoke are both good guys, Sub-Zero gets thirsty for power and both of them disagree with him; and the two will probably end up founding the Shirai Ryu.

This Scorpion is Kuai Liang (Bi-Han's brother) and he was always a Lin Kuei. but I bet he will eventually rebel against Bi-Han and his rule for some reason and he's gonna create Shirai Ryu. We don't know what happened to the Hanzo Hasashi (Scorpion we are used to), maybe Liu Kang finally gave him what he always wanted which was his family to be alive and happy.
