Күн бұрынWe continue on with the cutscenes for Mortal Kombat 1. Sindel is faced with her betrayal at court when she comes up against General Shao and Rain. Fire God Liu Kang and the rest of the gang (Tanya, Kitana, Mileena, Geras, Smoke, Scorpion) storm Shang Tsung and Quan Chi's fortress where a battle with Ermac reveals an interesting surprise. Finally, the real culprit behind what is going on is revealed.

Shang Tsung is one of my favorites in this new timeline. He's so unabashedly evil and scheming. His facial expressions and mannerisms are so perfect. Always smirking, i love it.

Shang Tsung betraying himself is so in character, that it ends up being that meme "Don't trust anyone, not even yourself." Old Raiden isn't actually voiced by Richard Epcar (Raiden from MK vs. DC to MK11 and Joker in every NRS game), but Travis Willingham (Thor in so many Marvel shows and games, Wilson Fisk in Spider-Man, and Grog in Vox Machima), he started voicing him the mobile game Mortal Kombat Onslaught (It used MK11 assets, but told a different story with returning voice actors, and some replacements for Raiden and Sonya... Which was easily better than Ronda Rousey since it was Vanessa Marshall lol)

Baraka, Reptile, Tanya, Geras, and Ermac being praiseworthy is dope. I like the idea of not being "just evil." Being jobbers in the MK9-11 trilogy did them dirty. Sindel is good again,

Ermac was a good guy in the original timeline from Deadly Alliance onward! Kenshi freed him from Shao's mental control, and in return Ermac helped Kenshi master his telekinesis. Ermac also later helped the soul of Liu Kang, who was dead at that point, return to his body, and together Liu and Ermac freed some of the heroes who'd been brainwashed by Onaga.

The kick that Rain did at 3:42 is a classic rain move where he kicks you across the screen and you end up on the other side. I think he’s had it since he was first introduced

Shang Tsung deceiving Shang Tsung is the most Shang Tsung thing I saw in Mortal Kombat. This controversial story will likely humble Shang Tsung and Quan-Chi into becoming very careful about whom they should trust or work with. Also, Titan Shang Tsung's meddling in Liu Kang's New Era gives a reason as to how the God of Fire's peaceful timeline gradually falls apart, causing Outworld's Civil War (Mileena vs. General Shao), the Rise of the Netherealm (Quan-Chi), and the chaos created by Shang Tsung (Shang Tsung). Mileena vs Shao Will likely show us the more war ridden dystopian outworld were used to seeing. Havik will also probably be closer to creating chaos realm now. Crazy how Shang's meddling basically sets up the classic MK we've known and come to see.

@@JuanitoEsBonito I don't think General Shao is keen to make Outworld into a wasteland unless Onaga goes overboard because Shao and his followers lived in lush and beautiful environments because of Liu Kang's careful crafting of a peaceful New Era. Outworld's division is similar to the division of the Roman Empire into two.

I love that even Shang Tsung gets deceived by another Shang Tsung from a different timeline, that alone is the most Shang Tsung thing I have ever seen. BTW It was such a nice wholesome surprise to see Jared resurrected through ERMAC and reunited with his daughters and wife for once. However, it's even more tragic that they only had a few hours together again. It really sucks that this Sindel had to die because I actually really liked how reasonable and honourable this new Sindel was as she truly cared about her family and her people, trusting Mileena enough to know even with her Tarkatan disease she would still be a great emperor

Shang Tsung choosing Kronika as his disguise was a wise choice since she was destroyed, there is no Kronika in Liu Kang's timeline for Shang Tsung to recognize that this one was a fake. Had he taken the form of someone like Raiden who already exists Shang would've easily realized the existence of two Raidens and would've called Shang's bluff.

@@CinePals I’m sure Kronika comes across as being much more convincing than Wilson when trying to manipulate Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Why even take the chance of someone recognizing their neighbor when you can just as easily take the form of someone who doesn’t even exist in the timeline? Especially with how calculated and particular Shang Tsing is with his plans and deceit.

It wasn’t only to deceive the other Shang Tsung but to hide his tracks easier since after all, Kronika died and Titan can’t be resurrected as Geras stated, so the disguise was literally to hide himself from everyone even the Geras from this particular timeline since he already knows there would be a different Geras since he has his own too

Honestly, I just... adore, how simple this whole story concept is. No unnecessary bullcrap, no needless backstory, no explanations whatsoever, just characters speaking for themselves. This is a good guy, this is a bad guy, and why the hell not, this is another version of a bad guy that fooled the first bad guy and owned him. Everything that's been set is just on the edge of being believable and you can clearly see the FUN, the writers had while creating this story. Time to go nuts! I know that technically you shouldn't compare cause those are two different mediums but I had more fun experiencing a Multiverse MK1 story than the entirety of Multiverse saga from Marvel, especially later on when the craziness is being turned up [reasonably, but still] to 11. It's like a guilty pleasure type of entertainment, where you just turn off your brain and take in all the fun.

The big twist of shang tsung and everything after changed the whole game so much, and while some people have a problem with it, I freaking loved it. It made the game go from more grounded and simple to something crazy, and its awesome to see how the story starts out simple to this. My favorite mk story mode for sure and one of the best storymodes i’ve played in a video game, at least in years

I like it as well and I don't have a problem with the infinite timeline mix up stuff. Yes, I know everyone is doing it now, but I'm also not so caught up in any of it to care! It still creates an interesting MK universe that has tons of possibilities, and I can't wait to see where they go with this.

Damashi is a reference to Deception, but instead of Shujinko (who could also copy moves), Shang Tsung was the one who became a victim of Deception. The Dragon Army, Damashi, and etc are from the 3D era plot, so like MK9/Mortal Kombat was a retelling of the first MK games, MK12/MK1 is a remix of the 3D era of games.

Dark Raiden isn't actually voiced by Richard Epcar who previously voiced him in the other games and is instead voiced by Travis Willingham who is a great voice actor but I still prefer Richard Epcar.

Shouts out to Jaby because he perfectly picked the right time and the right games start this journey with him and Achara. This is how you write a timeline story! 😁 ok now this brings not only replay value to MK11 but to the previous titles, the fact they made two ending canon is honestly amazing not to mention this is a great way to promote the customizable items you can collect from “invasion mode” and the towers as it was when they showed Liu Kang and Raiden timeline fights in MK11 I gotta give it to Netherealm studios and the writing team for the story for this game, the callbacks the references are so layered and insane, it’s not like current day Stuff like Star Wars where they bring back or reference something for you to remember all for the sake of dangling keys - the deception callbacks and even what Liu Kang says to his version of Shang Tsung is gold, once I heard the words damashi I knew Shang was being played because anyone who’s played Deception Konquest, knows about the sad story of Shujinko who surprising enough is in this game (it was one of my childhood games and an ending I’ll never forget ) -Liu Kang and Shang Tsung the Yin and Yang of MK have officially became the greatest rivals in fighting game history (outside of Tekkens Mishima Blood Feud) - Gerus became a badass with wasted potential in MK11 to an adorable badass he’s more terrifying than ever before if you stop to think about everything, especially with the wisdom he’s learned from Liu Kang, he’s the best thing to happen from MK11 outside of the Fire God Liu Kang/time reset - The callback to sindel’s slaughter in MK9 was great, I hated it back then but appreciate it more than ever of the last few years - Giving ermac/jerrod,sindel,melina,Kitana such a great family development. - Whoever is doing Shang Tsung deserves a reward because he channels Cary Tagawa so perfectly P.S to anyone saying Liu Kang and gerus are dumb, you have to understand they can’t reset the timeline unless they catch the threat that’s altering it first also love the editors note (you can tell they’ve seen the fanboy comments LOL)

There is a game called Mortal Kombat: Armageddon which was released in 2006 in both PS2 and Xbox and it was the final chapter in the first original Mortal Kombat storyline. After that Mortal Kombat 2011 aka. MK11 was the reboot. It had all 62 fighters from the first original timeline.

The fun thing is that even Geras said the first time that it can't be kronika because she go destroyed and it would be impossible for her to be revived, you guys and all the other people that reacted to the story just wouldn't believe him. :p So shang tsungs "Deception" tricked you all. :p Also great to see that titles of previous games (Deception, Deadly Alliance and Armageddon) were used in the story to pay hommage to the earlier installment of the game. :) I REALLY hope they will bring Sindel back the way she was ressurected in the first games through Quan Chi but without her being a undead Banshee but rather the kind but powerfull empress she was in MK1.

In the story it is really cool as well since she only has certain moves in her Tarkot form (clearly no bitey-bitey in normal form though I was hoping for a normal Melina skin...).

Did you forget that there is a choice between continuing as Liu Kang or Shang Tsung at the end of MK11 Aftermath? I called it that the villain would be the alternate timeline Shang Tsung a long time ago. I thought Kitana would be the evil sister and aid Shao, but it seems she's good and genuinely not eyeing her sister's throne.

I love that rather than chalk it up to “What If” scenarios, the main story endings AND every single character ending for MK11 are now canon! I still hate that they killed off Sindel AGAIN! They finally made her into the awesome, independent, and well written character we always wanted, only to have her get killed by the worst version of herself. Yes her soul is now in Ermac’s body which is controlled by Jerrod, but it’s still absolute BS.

I'm sure someone after all this time has mentioned it but, the benefit of going from old shang to young and back again is that old and young have a completely different fighting style and abilities to use. The idea is that you use both versions together morphing back n forth mid combo

So many little easter eggs and references to past games. At 29:27, Shao's line is the same as Shao Khan's in the beginning of MK9, when he was beating up on Raiden on top of the pyramid

So far I’ve enjoyed this new reimagining of Mortal Kombat 1. It is so cool that they took both endings from MK 11 and made them completely canonical versions. used these characters and stories, took their whole franchise and wrote the entire premise based on what came before to build this new Mortal Kombat 1. I think it was a brilliantly crafted and executed reboot. It makes me feel like it is original and refreshing. At least brilliant enough to the extent of making me appreciate it and been told that the story was based on both endings felt like it hadn’t been done before. Especially when other studios and writers riding the tail of Time/Multiverse concept to expand or refresh their own franchise. Now I’m wondering if that could now be applicable to Injustice 2 since they opened up this can of worms instead of writing alternate endings just to thrown out & tossed aside as a “What If This” type of conclusions. By the way, great reaction videos as always. It seems maybe this has been done before or similarly tried to in other media where lately everything is part of a multiverse or time travel, but to think before thought & executed this

Two things to absolutely love about this: 1) Finally, after 3 decades of being just mentioned, we finally get to see Jerrod in the story mode of an MK game, even if he's just using Ermac's body for now. The royal family reuniting was such a wholesome moment. 2) One question arose after MK11's Aftermath ending: which side of the story will be canon moving forwards? To which NRS simply decides: both of them, of course! I was guessing they'd find a way to make both Liu Kang's and Shang Tsung's ending canon somehow, but how it unfolded was actually quite clever.

Many people complain about Kitana's role in this game because she was reduced to a supporting character. But i think it's not bad. This timeline is a different situation from prior timeline. with the question is "If Kitana is not one and only princess. and she growing-up like a little sister. Her role and her decision is like or different from the prior timeline?" The answer is.. Kitana is being Kitana. She still be a honorable warrior princess who has a heart of kindness. Loving and supporting her sister in everyway. Mileena became her big sister and has her own problem. She can be turned into villain like in the prior timeline. but she not. Because she has a lovely and supportive sister on her side. This is a good time for them. I don't have any complain. (There's nothing worse than a Revenant Kitana in the MKX, honestly lol) (And i think she will be a bigger role in the next game or the DLC. Imagine as a supreme commander. Kitana join OIA and fight beside the earthrealmer alliance.)

@@MrInuhanyou123 but in the campaign Shang Tsung said he and Liu Kang were the only ones who could and he only could when wearing the crown. It doesn’t add up. Those timelines then can’t be cannon and they weren’t part of the final battle between Shang Tsung and Liu Kang anyway. It was that battle, not Kronika’s that destroyed times fabric. They said so in this game

I really recommend also watching the cutscenes of the games Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man Edge of Time to get to know more of the Spider-Men from different worlds and to also learn more villains and characters in general in the Marvel universe.

I will say, I do personally think shang tsung transforming into kronika was a clever idea. He knew liu kang or whoever was keeper of time would figure out new timeline shang and quan were gaining more power very quickly, and using the form of kronika for liu and geras to see, sent them on a wild goose chase for someone who doesn't even exist anymore, keeping them off his tail and leading them to never assume there is a 2nd timeline until way later in the game. I honestly thought it was a smart move of his, using the most logical person to confuse them.
