Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with all new gameplay. Two years after the defeat of Outworld's ruler, Shao Kahn, Shinnok attacks Earthrealm with his army of Netherrealm demons, as well as Earthrealm warriors who were killed during Kahn's invasion and are now resurrected as revenants under Quan Chi's control. After fighting their fallen comrades, a strike team led by Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, and Kenshi open a portal to Raiden's Sky Temple and head to the Jinsei Chamber, the source of Earthrealm's life force, where Raiden and Fujin are seen battling Shinnok and his Netherrealm forces.
Mortal Kombat 9 follows the end of the Armageddon war, all warriors from the realms have been killed, leaving only Raiden and Shao Kahn remaining. Having defeated Blaze, Shao Khan is imbued with godlike power and easily overpowers Raiden. Before being killed by Shao Khan, Raiden uses one last spell to send a message to his past self through his shattered amulet, with the vague message "He must win." During the events of the first tournament from the first game, the past Raiden sees visions of the future due to the message he received and notices his amulet has been damaged. Raiden concludes that Liu Kang must win the tournament to save Earthrealm.

I watched the cutscene video from last week which was about 4 hours. I haven't really kept up with the Mortal Kombat story for quite a while and recently watched the latest movie release (which was very disappointing). I was amazed at how great the story was and how it flowed not only keeping me intrigued but how much it made sense. I am very interested in getting through this to see all that I have missed and will no doubt wonder why in the hell the movie scriptwriters keep messing up what is storytelling perfection by video game producers.

I just watched the whole saga story right before the release of MK1. Then, I watched the MK1 story. 2 weeks later, I'm watching the whole saga again. It's either THAT confusing, or that awesome. :D Also, the models, the women in MK9 - rip my eyes. Why are they all naked and it's the default skins? Never liked the female models, it's too over the top in MK9. I mean, why are they all pornstars? :DDD

it looks like one of those "it was just how it was back then in games" situations/excuses but then you remember that MK9 was actually callked mortal kombat 2011 and you realised this was pretty late for those kind of design choices, how far we've generally come in the last decade is suprising. In the first 11 minutes, Johnny cage says, "oh so that military uniform is actually real?' to sonya and im sitting here looking at the cleavage like, "no Johnny, no it isnt...". Be nice if there was a mod that changes all the cutscene outfits for the MK9 section.
