Weird? It’s been said in the past more than once in both timelines. Wraith is just another word for a specter so this is nothing new.

@@gabrieltejada1697 it's still weird to me, because I played so many of the older games growing up. You're right tho; the lines between what makes a revenant, specter, and wraith different from one another have been blurred heavily. I owe this to someone at WB/NRS wanting to keep things more simplified when it comes to undead characters.

@@kylenguyen7371 so have I but it’s mainly the revenant word in the new timeline made by NRS where they try to make it seem like it’s the same thing when actuality it isn’t while for specters/wraiths it’s a different story since those gain new powers after their rebirth but regular revenants do not.

It's a mix. Sheeva was not Shokah's queen while Gorbak and Goro were on the scene.

They’ve continuously referred to Scorpion as both a Wraith and a Revenant since MK11 for some reason, even though MKX actually got it right when Sektor referred to him as a Spectre. I have no idea how they can keep making this mistake.

@@ladyriethegoldendelmo5441 it’s definitely a different timeline because we have young Sonya and old Johnny cage meaning this takes place during kronikas time anomaly in kotal Kahn’s colosseum but in a different timeline.

Considering this is about Shinnok's attempt to break out of the Netherrealm, this seems to be some expanded alternate retelling of MK4. Goro was presumed dead after MK1, so assuming Sheeva didn't killed during the invasion like in the OT, she'd be in the best position to lead the Shokan.

MK story has been a big mess since MK 2011.

It sounds like it’s around or during MK9 timeline. Cause she can still hate him but is just not powerful enough to be queen. Because they were hesistant to join Kitana in MK11 only cause they felt they didn’t have enough power.

@@angel_reignz7393 Well, it's not the case, unfortunately. Because in MK9 the shokans were commanded by Goro. Sheeva became queen only in the MKX comics, that are canon and occurs after MK9.

This whole game is weird. Seems to be taking inspiration from both timelines and merging them into one. Scorpion works for Shinnok and Quan Chi but there’s another cutscene that shows him with Sub-Zero. The trailer has Kitana fighting against Mileena who is on Kahn’s side but here we can only assume she is still under the impression that Shao Kahn is her father. Sindel was in the trailer and they seem to be tripling down on the garbage retcon that assassinated her character and that doesn’t line up with either timeline. Sheeva is queen of the Shokan and there’s been no mention of Goro or Kintaro. They also seem to be working with Shao Kahn. Baraka mentions a tournament so this has to be during or after one or both of them. I don’t know what’s going on but I just hope it’s it’s own contained story, no alternate timelines, no time travel, NO KRONIKA. Just let it be it’s own goofy little thing and let’s hope it’s good(except Sindel. Evil Sindel will never be good)
