As morticians we get asked about the condition of crime victims bodies...
"Are they viewable?"
"How would we handle this case?"
"What would the body look like?"
Kari the Mortician and Ryan & Brian from Undertaking the Podcast will answer those questions and many more. Each episode three embalmers/morticians will talk about criminal cases of murder and unexplained deaths and how they would handle the deceased victims from those cases.
In this first episode, Kari, Ryan & Brian will discuss the case of the Watts Family murders. This story made International News because of its senseless brutality. Many people have looked at the criminal aspect of the case and the murderer himself, but we will discuss caring for the victims and the sad task that laid before the funeral directors who cared for the victims.
Warning things may be discussed that are disturbing to some people.
If you have a case you would like us to cover please comment below! Please excuse the choppy video. Even with four uploads it just won't play right :( Maybe

I take my hat off to you for being able to do what you do. Funeral directors get a bad rap. I think initially many of thought all funeral directors were money grabbing monsters and "making money off of everyone's grief". Now I realize this isn't the case for all of them. Your job has to be one of the most difficult in the world. I wish it wasn't against the law to come in with a funeral director and observe what is done and how. I think it would give people a much needed perspective on how difficult your job is.

They men that did remove the children from the oil tanks had to take leave from their job or even quit , it upset them so badly to see the little bodies Destroyed in oil. So yes I agree Chris Watts or “who ever” put them into the oil tanks need to see pictures everyday on how these 2 little souls were destroyed, for the rest of their lives . Patricia, agreed. With apologies to passable dirt bags everywhere, the father of the family (like Kari, I can't speak his name) doesn't rise the level of a dirt bag. It's really impossible to fathom this heinous crime. And the motive? Don't get me started. We have to respect that Colorado doesn't have or doesn't want to use capital punishment, but it's better to have and seldom use, than to need and not have. Just ask Wisconsin. The fellow inmates in Jeffrey Dahmer's prison had more sense than the laws and judicial system of Wisconsin. They didn't want him around so they solved the problem themselves. We'll see what happens in this case.

Same here, Marian. This case struck me so hard - it was so evil! I became very invested in it.. I've watched all of the interviews and police first response and subsequent search and investigation videos, the media interviews of Chris "appealing" for information about his family and the neighbour showing his security video, all his confession and court videos - and NK' s interviews. Plus I've read the full discovery and all of the books written so far, and listened to all of the recordings of his telephone conversations. Anything that's related to the case, I've covered it all. And I STILL can't wrap my head around it. Now CW claims he's found Christ in prison... Poppycock! Utter poppycock. He actually thinks he's going to get out of prison one day! He belongs in hell.

Much respect to you for talking about these uncomfortable truths. As to the case you talked about, it is so awful, unimaginably horrible. When I now think of the funeral directors who undertook this traumatic case, I have such respect and hope that at last, the family were given over to genuine care before their funerals. They shouldn't be dead. They should be here. It is abominable that they are not and that the husband and father is responsible for it.

When I lost my father, I can personally say that the funeral director I dealt with gave me some of my best support. The funeral home even called several weeks later to offer free counseling services for one of my children who was experiencing heightened grief. In other words, they didn't see my father's death as a profit margin. They actually cared about the entire family and that meant the world to me. I have the utmost respect for people who treat our lost loved ones like one of THEIR own.

What do you think let alone do when you and your deceased loved ones are disrespected continuously during their life and once they have passed?!?! You vomit and so on because it did not and does not end there! How can so called people and professionals do such things and be so cool, coy about what they have done with no fear of consequences to them for evil, illegal criminal acts????!!!!

CW actually thought that he was going to have a new life together with his mistress, Nickhole Kessinger - and SHE didn't feel that there were any "firsts" left that she could share with Chris. "But I wanted to be the one to give you your first son..blah blah blah". Nickhole may not have murdered anyone...She may not have even known that he would kill his family so he could be with her, but she certainly was the sole catalyst for what CW did. Usually, when people are working with a funeral director, embalmer, etc it’s during a loss. Your mind doesn’t work much further than picking out a coffin, the music & paying for all this. Soo...it’s really eye opening to hear a few of the decisions you guys are making on the live family members behalves. Because the media is so loose lipped nowadays, people learn of details they were never faced with before. Myself, I find all aspects of it interesting & sometimes heartbreaking, as in this case. I heard about about this on the Netflix documentary and since then have been digging into it, and for the life of me, I am absolutely gobsmacked. Those poor beautiful girls are seared into my brain and I cry for all of them, as they did not deserve this. The worse is that, he separated them all in death. That hurts, I'm so sorry for the mother and girls and I now grip my baby girl harder than ever before I kiss her goodnight. That being said, I'm so grateful for your professionalism, you among the Law enforcement, fire department and everyone else involved are the heroes of the world and I thank you for your services. I recently found this case and I have some experience in school and work with criminal law and cases, but this case has really haunted me so much. Some of your explainations helped a lot. This cause is so traumatizing but I appreciate everyone's knowledge on some of these situations
