I honestly find it kind of shocking that people would find Toy Boy feminine based on the rose note alone when we’ve got so many men wearing fragrances that smell like cotton candy and bubble gum.

The last 20 years have produced an abundance of sweet/sugary designer fragrances for men. This one is super floral. I dont mind sweet, I generally dont like florals for myself. I did like MFK's new rose one for men tho.

I love rose as a man. If you're worried about your masculinity by wearing a rose then that's your own insecurity. If you wear a rose you don't suddenly grow a pair of tits and a vagina. If you're insecure about your masculinity I would understand why you want to smell ultra masculine.

Toy Boy is arguably the farthest out designer fragrance sold at department stores. I sprayed it on a card and it was still blasting florals two days later.

Speaking of so called “feminine notes”, as a female who loves to wear some male fragrances and a HUGE fan of yours, I would really appreciate it if you made a video on fragrances that are labeled as targeted to men or women but you consider to be more unisex irl. For example I know you feel this way for Eau des Merveilles (on which I completely agree with you).

George thank you for starting off the video setting some expectations for who might like or might hate this scent, this is a release I have been sleeping on but might have to add to my list to get a sample of. This was well explained and if this is the style of review you are trending towards I think it's awesome.
@bradleystroup14573 жыл бұрын
Solid review George, especially when you started factoring in your initial impressions, the niche element with Guerlain and then came back to who it's marketed for and where it sits in the blue/tonka sea. On point review 👍

It's a remarkable fragrance that needs more love, Moschino has to produce these more intense styles which is different than most of their transparent summer styles, it's also much more than a Rose scent. I wear whatever I want- gender classifications are irrelevant.

This style of reviewing is the best one. It is so in-depth and it covers aspects others don't even know could form part of a fragrance review. Same, sometimes I wear it, get compliments and enjoy it. Other times I wonder why I bought it. Hype? Unique? In a year with little to no fragrance releases making waves or garnering interest, this one undoubtedly stood out. Like u said u have to like rose to enjoy this one, and The jury’s still out for me. Enjoyed your perspective, 🍻

If you asked me before I got ToyBoy I would have said I hate rose fragrances. I think its probably more likely I dislike Iris, which so often goes with rose. Toy Boy is one of my most worn frags over the past 6 months. I think it's genius. Its so different from anything I've ever smelled, its so weird and interesting. I absolutely adore it. I've never said anything is my 'signature' but this is damn close. (I still adore and wear Guerlain Homme EDP too much to call anything my signature scent) Great review - I've just found your channel and I love it. You and Ash from Gents Scents are the only fragrance reviewers I can stand.

I love the opening and mid of this scent. The opening really jumps out at you. It's tart, juicy, and a bit floral. It's kind of like a sour candy and the spice of the pink pepper really makes the opening sparkle. The opening into the dry down kind of starts to resemble the way a slightly floral red wine smells. The dry down is good, but not as intriguing as the opening and mid. It's warm and a little fuzzy, and for a dry down that's fine. I would probably wear this every season except for summer. I'm kind of obsessed with it. The only downside is that the bottle isn't transparent in the slightest, so you have to shake the juice and estimate how much is left from there. I would say I'm about halfway through my bottle.

My new love - its strangeness is something I have been longing for - I can only get the rose initially and then pepper pepper pepper and later oud and something like diesel - it’s amazing. Yes it’s slightly synthetic but hypnotic none the less - I like the confusion. (By the way it’s pronounced Moskino !) Great review!
@dr.fragrance31853 жыл бұрын
Fantastic. It's different and manages to do rose in a very appealing way. I really appreciate how it manages to be pretty mass appealing without being the same as everything else. I'm not a rose fan or floral fan, but I found this very good. I'm pretty fickle with all my frags, so you shouldn't feel bad for waffling.

I just bought toy boy blindly from a discount store for the 1oz. and checked the reviews and love it. Teams it’s a unique scent and the rise is incredible smelling and not the cheap smelling rose and very sophisticated. I love how unique smelling it is and like the idea that many macho types will hate it. With that meaning only few men will wear it, until it get acceptable by the masses like wearing pink. Also, I discovered Moschino around the time he launched as a designer in 86-87. And was told around that time it was pronounced Mos Keno. And you would think almost 40 years later everyone would have known that. Like when k first discovered Versace around 81-82 and first thought it was pronounce Versass, instead of VersaCEE. Real men wear Toy Boy! 🤠

I honestly just ordered this online a couple of days ago mostly because of the unique bottle design, and the way it's been described as somewhat unisex, floral, and sweet with an interesting mid/base. I'm hoping I could pull it off as a darker fragrance, as I wear a lot of black clothing, but I guess we'll see how that works out. Regardless I'm looking forward to trying this one out.

Coincidentally while putting up my Christmas tree I thought I’d wear this again; with the tree up I took a wee break and found this video. It’s strange how people’s noses differ, everyone mentions the rose and I don’t get rose at all, I get pepper and a musty wet concrete stuffy sort of smell that I associate with cashmeran. I like the uniqueness of this in the designer world but it’s more of a like than a love for me. George I always love hearing your take on things. If I could only find a sample of “Kisses Rain” or Citiver in Canada.

As a casual fan of fragrances, Toy Boy was a roller coaster for me. I've seen it on the shelves for some time but been dismissing it. Then I kept hearing it on people's list. The name is weird, bottle weird. Recalled the cringy window cleaner bottle. Tested it on paper and skin. Love the fragrance. Projection is much stronger then what I'm used to but love the longevity. Then I found out it had rose and its unisex. But I love that the fragrance evolved the longer you wear it. Woody mescaline. Conclusion: Bought it. Wife loved it. So I guess it's gonna be one of my date night fragrances.

This is the best review of this fragrance that I’ve seen. In fact, you have just about convinced me to get a bottle. As for rose, I love it as a fragrance note. I really love when the rose is blended with dark woods like oud or with incense as you mentioned here. One of my favorite rose based fragrances is Cartier Declaration D’un Soir. That one, for the money, is a crazy good fragrance. One of my fave shave soap companies, Noble Otter, has a scent called Two Kings that is oud and rose based, but has other lovely notes like carnation, lily of the valley, sandalwood, incense, citrus, and oakmoss. I have the shave soap, AS splash, and their EDP and it’s freakin awesome. Anyway, sorry for the novella. Great video as usual, and I’m thinking of getting a bottle. Thanks and be well, m8! 👍

Well , it's weird,, I don't like rose or feminine floral fragrances at all.. yet I really like this fragrance... Sometimes it's a little feminine but most of the time, especially in the air for some reason it just smells good... I actually like the dry down and synthetic quality of it.. It makes it more masculine in my opinion... If it was very natural smelling I think it would smell even more feminine. Some reason on my skin when it dries down I get more of the woods and vetiver and the aroma chemicals ISO or whatever ambroxan coming through it starts smelling much more manly.

Wow this world is becoming crazy, look at these comments. If you like something you like it, there doesn't have to be some deeper mental meaning to why you like a scent. When I was in my young 20's I loved Fierce by A&F and that would never have been mistaken for a perfume but now I really love Y by ysl and someone asked was it unisex. I honestly can see why someone can think that and I don't get offended but it gets a lot of compliments and to me it smells like a masculine green apple.

They missed a trick with the bottle design... they created the silver collar as the neck of the bear, they could have put a little silver bowtie on the collar and it would have been amazing.
