In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Run History Plus, giving us more info in the Run Summary screen about the run: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Map Marks, for path highlighting - here, typically, Green means an easy, intended path, and Orange or Red means a harder path that I might take if I get good rewards: github.com/casey-c/mapmarks

I really wish Clash would simply update cost to 0+X, where X is the number of non attack cards in hand. That would make it an actually viable pick a lot of the time, and help it mirror what I consider the silent version of the card, Masterful Stab.

@@matthewfanous8468 yes, that's probably what the tool tip on the card text should read, while 0+X is probably how they would program it.

I think the damage would need to be nerfed, or it would need to cost 1 at base, and upgraded would lower it to 0 as well as the normal damage increase. For perspective, blade dance is 12 damage for 1 mana, so Clash being 14 for 0 is ridiculously strong. You would play this for 1 mana happily.

@@xVibra Agree that a nerf could be valid, but comparing to blade dance seems strange to me. Blade dance isn't a great card by itself, you want some other shiv synergy with it like strength or accuracy or envenom or even thousand cuts. And any of those make Blade Dance clobber even this hugely buffed Clash

Agreed. I once did a brimstone run with lots of strength powers and a philosopher’s stone. I fought the awakened one. Still don’t know how I survived

Love how Blue Candle plus Centennial Puzzle and Writhe is basically an at-will Bag of Preparation.

Pretty often with Baalor runs, I feel like I could pilot the decks to victory in A20, just based on his drafting skills. But this particular deck requires so much precision of decision-making to win every fight, and in this case I don't think I could do it the way he does. Very impressive play, and very fun to watch! GG!

Man I love how Writhe + Blue candle + Centenial puzzle is like a bag of prep (at the cost of 1HP), not sure why but I really love that combo

Bag of Prep is already one of the best common relics, so it really speaks to how powerful Centennial Puzzle is that adding a literal curse to your deck can essentially make it equal in power to Bag of Prep.

Spoon apparition exhume bandage up is so nasty, i love it. I have hundreds of hours in this game but there are so many combinations i have yet to see, it's crazy.

Another great run! Seemed like you were struggling for block all run and I would definitely have taken one or more of the three Ghostly Armour offered. I always thought that was a good card but seems not :)

This was an awesome run! It really showcases how creative your deck building is, I especially loved the homemade bag of prep. When I think this game is getting stale ya show me there's a world of possibilities I hadn't even considered!

I just finished Act 2 of an Ironclad A20 run and am stuck. I started with Apotheosis, got an early Demon Form, strike dummy, spot weakness, limit break and Shockwave as my main cards. Heavy Blade is my major dmg card. Have card draw in bag of prep, pocket watch, battle trance and burning pact. My act 1 boss relic was runic pyramid (wasn't sure since I had good card draw and the other choices were sozu and tiny house). So its a filthy dmg deck, and I have tungsten rod for minor dmg resist, feather and pillow for heal. Why am I stuck you ask? I have 3 defends and a sentinel as my block cards, and a dark shackles. That's it. My query is twofold here, since I keep losing to the heart with ironclad on A20 (beat it w silent and defect, slow to play watcher who is at A12). First, do I take Fiend Fire as my rare card choice (def not bludgeon or juggernaut as the other choices), to weed out cards with my runic pyramid? Second, what cards would you be looking for to get through Act 3 and 4 with no defense? I REALLY want to win this one cause its so filthy already, I literally have not seen one defense card aside from Sentinel the whole game, including two shops. Any advice is much appreciated.

redo act 1 get sozu and keep your defends, if you have pocket watch, bag of prep and battle trance runic pyramid is a misplay because youre a demon form heavy blade deck with 3 energy otherwise id take fiendfire and erase sentinal, if youre lucky you get a dark embrace and can make use of the energy gain

@@NixViche I would've taken sozu but I got potion belt which deterred me. At this point, I take snecko eye as my act 2 relic right? Its either that or sacred bark, cause Mark of pain is a non starter with no medical kit, but then I have no energy at all.

@@reboot3332 Snecko eye with runic pyramid is kind of unplayable if you get a bad draw. Mark of pain at least gives energy, for me itd be between mark and bark

@@reboot3332 i just feel like youre in a hard spot because you have draw relics, but then a runic pyramid with a high energy cost deck. Id say you need to look for cards to enable your deck, zpecifically exhaust card like true grit and energy cards lkke seeing red. Then you can trim the deck down and have explosive turns when you need it. Itll be wortb going to 2 shops just to card hunt a bit imo

@@NixViche Really appreciate the tips. Been stuck on a20 ironclad for a week now. Silent and defect were no problems, but I just can't get past the heart with ironclad.

1:05:50 can someone explain why the daggers are taking so much thorns damage? He only has 3 thorns but they take that 3 damage on attack then the rest of their hp. I don't see any buff or relic that would cause that.

He actually describes exactly what's happening right at that moment. The daggers can only attack twice, and disappear after their second, and larger attack.
