Man 21 is a fun trail. After that first main obstacle. Too much risk IMO. Yeah you can use the winch as a safety to prevent a rig from rolling over but you’ll still need some good spotting. After that the trail gets fun and technical lol

We will definitely do this trail again

Every time I go south and have something fail, it fails on 75 N, usually in Ohio.

Were you using a kinetic rope to winch off of??? Thats a big no no as those are not designed for heavy static loads
@gageboysgarage60592 ай бұрын
can you point us toward literature on this, we know not to use a static rope for a kinetic extraction but I have not seen on any of our rope materials not to use a kinetic rope for a static pull. would be good to learn more if you have the sources

@@gageboysgarage6059 sure… www.donaghys.com.au/file_uploads/fact-sheets/Kinetic_Energy_Tow_Rope_Fact_Sheet_Oct2017.pdf. Think of it almost like steel vs synthetic line…if the let’s say the hook/flatlink fails, now you have a highly loaded slingshot instead of a system that just falls to the ground. If you do some light googling you’ll see most agree not to use it. Otherwise nice video, good job getting everyone through, that’s a tough trail for sure 🤘🏽

@@gageboysgarage6059 Yeah that's a big no-no! Never ever mix static and stretch!! Think of it this way, imagine you have a 3/4" steel D-ring on the end of a large rubber band (your kinetic rope), what happens when you stretch it hard and let it go...It flies off with a ton of stored energy! Kinetic ropes store and release thousands of pounds of energy, that's how they work. Never static line pull with a kinetic/recovery rope, it's a recipe for disaster! Your winch rope does NOT stretch, your kinetic does...Not a compatible pair, ever...
