@@Thentherewerenone3543 I think so too, but the US has been bleeding blood and treasure for over 20 years. Real diplomacy seems to have been forgotten. Technology is exciting, but if all it leads to is war being seen an easy solution to problems then that technology does not represent real progress.

I would have said that’s a bunch of bullshit around 20 years ago while sitting in Iraq but as I have gotten older it’s clear that we keep causing issues around the world… Everything we touch ends up worse off than before we got involved and that applies to everything from Vietnam forward… I also challenge anyone to make a war we won since the Korean War? The only one that can even be remotely seen as a victory is the first Gulf War… Look at how Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, Haiti, Ukraine and hell even go back to Cuba with the Bay of Pigs debacle… Whats happened is war becomes a way for a lot of elites/politicians to make money at the expense of other peoples lives… None of these places we intervene with affect our National Security and most of not all of the conflicts are ones we instigated..

They can, and they submit preliminary discussions and studies with Boeing to see if this is compatible with US needs or not. If it is, then they might buy it.

Can the MICV XM30 be fully remote controlled? Noone inside? It says crew of 2 but the gun is remote controlled? Just wondering if that makes it a stationary unmanned gun platform for defence that can become a manned mobile assault vehicle or just what it means by having a gunner for a remote controlled gun

Remote control turret usually just means controlled by someone sitting in the hull instead of someone sitting/standing in the turret. IIRC they called this vehicle Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle but changed the name because they realized it would be a while until autonomy was practical, although it is still a stretch goal.

@@JWQweqOPDH oh ok, thank you . I tried googling but couldn't make much sense and it seemed to say both remote controlled and manned and I thought remote controlled meant not in the vehicle and so couldn't work out how it could be both. Thanks for clearing it up

Russians projected to put the entire crew in an armored compartment inside the hull with the Armata, so I'd imagine they're going to run with the same concept, but better budget to pull it off so it doesn't break down in parades.

Not to be annoying as heck, but LRS-B is not an aircraft class, it was a project. This project resulted in the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider, actually meant to replace the B-52 and B-1.

Few "Zumwalt's" were completed, and are still in use, but construction of new ones was canceled. So *MAYBE* they go back to it in the future, when they figure how this Sci-Fi Tech Boat actually works.

Chances are we will upgrade the systems we have, pour billions into R&D on a few prototypes and then cancel, (RAH-66 Comanche). The USS Zumwalt is a joke. It’s like a stealth building. It can be followed by a fishing trawler that can radio it position.

I think it's faster than most fishing trawlers. Also fishing trawlers mostly stick to littoral seas. The stealth features are mostly to increase the odds of cruise missiles missing rather than not being located. Combine stealth features with some quickly deployed smoke/chaff screens and decoys and you'll fool most missiles. That's why the latest cruise missiles are being designed to turn around and try again if they miss, although that gives CIWS a much better chance.

Is it faster than a fishing trawler? YES but for the cost it’s questionable at to whether it was worth it. It’s like the LCS program. It sounded great in theory but fell short and is overpriced. It might work if it’s high tech long distance fight but ifs it’s close stealth won’t matter add to it the cost of rounds for the main guns that are too expensive is it real worth it?

The Comanche was cancelled because the Cold War was over and the proliferation of MANPAADS to the terrorist forces being fought at the time meant that speed was more important than stealth, at least as long as hovering gunships are vulnerable to the mark one eyeball. The reason platforms get canceled is because of cost overruns or because they take too long to develop and the tactics they were designed for are no longer effective. Never listen to those idiots that say war never changes, or you’ll get taken out by a BVR AIM-9x while you’re coming in for your dogfight.

The Chinese are not as open as the US when it comes to weapon developments, Russians on the other hand are always ready to tell everyone about the super duper weapons that will teabag whatever the Americans will field in 300 years, but with the current Ukraine business I don't think they're developing much new stuff.

not really dreams. the valor and the invictus are already approved, the NGAD prototype had its maiden flight, the drones are in testing, the USS JFK has been launched (so will probably enter service before 2027), the F-35 has already reached the 1000 aircraft procured milestone, etc
