𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
The first generation comprises of subsonic jets developed from the mid 1940s to mid 1950s.
The second generation of fighter jets was a result of technological breakthroughs and experience gained during aerial warfare over Asia. New researches brought better aeronautical knowledge, material and avionic innovations.
The third generation was a continuation in researches of advanced avionics, aerodynamics performance and air guided missiles. Dogfights forced improvements in manoeuvrability, air-to-air missiles and radar systems.
Fourth generation fighter jets are mostly multirole aircraft. Sophisticated avionics, especially fly-by-wire system improved manoeuvrability at the expense of aerodynamic instability. Digital flight control systems stabilized the aircraft and helped the pilot control the jet.
Fifth-generation defined by Lockheed Martin as having all-aspect stealth even when armed, low-probability-of-intercept radar (LPIR), high-performance airframes, advanced avionics features, and highly integrated computer systems capable of networking with other elements within the battlespace for situation awareness.

Not really though. Both the US and UK both had operational Jet fighters before the end of the war, and while the ME-262 gets recognition of being the first operational jet fighter, that wasn't really because Germany's jet technology was really advanced compared to the allies. Instead it was instead because they simply put what was essentially an R&D prototype into production out of desperation despite the major flaws in with it. The US and UK on the other hand, were trying to develop actual sustainable combat aircraft, with engines that didn't need to be replaced after only 25 operational hours.

@@svccscvv6214 Polygon count refers to the number of triangles that compose the 3d plane models. The more polygons you have, the more smooth you can make a model. A sphere with a lower polygon count will show some flat surfaces and will not be a perfect sphere. A high polycount sphere will be near perfect. You can see this best in 3d games (tomb raider) from the early 2000s vs now. The Gen6 planes have less polycount because of the use of smoother structures to max. stealth and the speed reuirement.

@@kucko2 Just a quick correction: altho most models still use tri (triangles polygon), graphic cards can now handle easily quads (quadrilateral polygons) or even more segment composed polygons. The more segments increase ressource usage tho.

Fun fact: nobody actually knows the true speed of the F-14. During testing, the US military only pushed it to Mach 2.34, and feeling that was fast enough just stopped the test.

Same thing can be said for most planes. Usually you don't want to strain the engines by using and afterburner reaching mach. especially since you don't got mach much unless you are entering a battle zone or intercepting. F-15 could probably got mach 2.9-3.2 if it were to strain its engines and even faster if in a clean configuration at high altitude. For the mig-25 to be so fast it could only fly mach 3 once or twice before destroying the engines.

@@nobody1157 aparently the engines used on the mig25 and 31 where supposed to be cruise missile engines or something thats why they didnt last long, f15 could easily go countless hours past mach 2.5 or atleast i believe

Also thought it was funny that Inertial Navigation System (INS) was a listed feature when INS has been around since the 50s and was in a ton of cold war era aircraft. It's basically obsolete at this point but sometimes used as a backup system when GPS won't work. Maybe the point is in case satellites get destroyed it can still navigate.

I grew up seeing the Foxhound fly over my house every now and then when I lived temporarily in Russia. I've developed a fascination and love towards it ever since. I also main the aircraft in any flight game/simulator if the opportunity presents itself. Primary usage for me was when I played the Ace Combat series, notably Ace Combat: Infinity

Just a couple of things to correct: The Tornado was a British, Italian and German plane ( not just German). Also the Harrier didn’t have ‘relative’ success, in the Falklands conflict it was completely dominate against a much larger Argentine airforce and shot down 20 enemy fighters with Zero loses.

Engine over best frequently crashing on its own. After burner over heat. Navigation range low . Single propulsion. Lower manuver, Bigger Target. Maintenance cost too high . Overall failed

They most likely added it due the fact that the Yak-130 has the characteristics of being a 4th and 5th Generation Fighter despite being a Light Fighter, thus making it more advanced than your run of the mill Light Fighter.

Thats right. I dont know if Gaijin introduce the Jets per Generation or do they just add them randomly. We already have Tier 7 modern Tanks but still Tier 6 Jets from Vietnamwar. In USSR Tree in T6 only a few Migs and 1 SU Model. The Jets really are far behind what we have already in Tanks. I think Tanks are the most played vehicles and bring the most profit thats why they focus them hard. Jets are maybe only 30% of us players interessted in. Warthunder began with Planes but tanks got the most amount of modern stuff. Most stealth fighters have the ability to externally carry munitions outside their internal weapon bays when stealth is not a priority. Unless the pilot specifies the date and the mission we cannot really know.

The F-X or Penetrating Counter-Air (PCA) Aka the NGAD PROGRAM is my fav jet and maybe the jet's look is a prototype perhaps there will be a revamp in the future? Idk, just my hypothesis

Mig-25 max safe operational speed is Mach 2.83, but it has been monitored as able to go at least Mach 3.2 (but the engine becomes damaged)
