Here is my attempt to build acoustic panels for my drum room. No special equipment or materials needed. It won't hurt your budget either. And still these panels do wonders!

If I make these with acoustic foam inside instead of rockwool (rockwool too heavy, and need them portable) how effective will they be ? Will they still be worth ? It's for my living room/stereo, not drumming. Thanx !

is the fabric effecting the absorption of the rock wool if it absorbs also? Thought maybe the cloth should be acoustically transparent ? Nice build tho

Shawn - so what type is not good and what type is? I still can't figure out the type he used. I've seen other people do panels like this and just use what looks like regular cloth.

@@CynDaVaz Speaker cloth will be the best option. Other than that, burlap, or a very light open-weave canvas.

@@oblivionwalker8613 I used brand new light blue bed sheets 50% cotton / 50% polyester looks and sounds excellent. One double bed sheet covered two panels.

Hi, im a drummer too and I would like to soundproof my drum room. Is these panels work for soundproofing? Or they just work for acoustic treatment? Pls help, ur advise is really important for me. Thank you very much!

I built them with acoustic treatment in mind. However, while constructing the drum room I used the same rock wool panels inside the walls (cardboard | rock wool | cardboard). It reduces the noise, but still I wish I applied more layers. Generally, the thicker the material is in terms of density the better it's going to soundproof your drum room. I was even advised to use a tar paper on the walls as an additional layer.

How much would you say everything cost you to build these? Estimated?

I built four of these so far and it cost me approximately 40 euro altogether. That's not too much given the huge improvement in terms of acoustics.

How thick the panels are? There 2" and 4" rockwools.

To keep the mineral wool from flying all over the room and affecting your lungs, this is a very important step I see missing in many DIY acoustic panel videos.

Most DIY acoustic panels... EVER? You didn't mill the wood yourself. You didn't even weave that fabric. Using a store boght drill, probably didn't even forge your own saw. Everything used; virgin materials - you didnt repurpose anything!!! DIY, sure... Most ever?
