On our van trips we always have way more clothes than we actually wear. We were in Europe for 5 months with hand luggage only. Ok it was a glorious summer. Ian had 2 shorts, 4 tshirts and a light sweatshirt, 3 sets of undies and socks. I had 4 dresses, 1 pair of leggings, light jumper, 3 sets of undies. Walking boots and sandals. We could fly, go by bus or train quite cheaply. We returned and immediately downsized what we carry in our van.

@@JarrodTocci sounds about right. I just viewed a few that where close to $300k and thought they were way overpriced. This is a beautiful build. Especially love the outside upgrades and 4x4 on a 170 body.
@JeffDaily-uw5ro
@JeffDaily-uw5ro Ай бұрын
They are quality upgrades. If under $300k, then a steal, imo. It sounds like he maxed out in some key categories which to me should add more $$$ to the build, like heated flooring, off grid capacity like suspension, 4x4, has 50 gal. tank, a black tank--wahat?! Inverter. Is 3000 a lot? So yeah, a steal, imo. Not a fan of the decor for my own taste. Sorry, but reminds me of my 80's van conversion childhood😂😂!! But i can appreciate the hours of craftsmanship that went into it.

Hey, a friendly tip: why not consider wall niches in the back of the van - one on passengers side and the other on the drivers side, you can take wall mounted Murphy bunk beds - put each set on two different slide outs, The first to extract the flipable wall mounted bunks out of the niches, once they are out, the second slide out can send both out of the door, a pull down projector screen can hang from the ceilings edge, a porch or a floor platform can eject outwards - esp if you are willing to consider refashioning the doors differently, let’s say in a box package form - so four doors, with this concept in mind, please look up both “Murphy doors” and “Murphy desks” If this concept interests you, you could look into “four sided kitchen cabinetry, create wall niches inside/outside of doors, put four sided kitchen cabinetry on a slide out to extract it from door frame when you would like to use it, but also place a “lazy Susan type mechanic underneath so it can spin - if you are willing do do the same for the door exterior, - may make a cool concept for outdoor kitchen - then you get to free up more room from inside the van, From there I would consider adding at least two slide outs, one on each side of the van that runs the duration. I’d then look into the following rvs Volkner rv with solar panels in between glass to create fencing for sky deck I’d look into Draper Landark for a pull down balcony from exterior I’d look at game changer toy hauler rv to see how you can store and slide furniture to the wall, and to take this concept a step further, you can add storage within the edges of the floor, then you can look into floor pits. Lehel by Alexander’s - in one video at least you can see a removable podium - might be a cool concept to consider - anywhere from An outdoor entertainment center or library If you are interested in floor pita, same can be done for a roof deck and any balconies. In the backs of both sofas and chairs you could create desk space, plus more places to store things. You can also create slits inside of kitchen cabinetry for pullout/slide out dinette tables or desks. Steps can be used for storage too. If you have interest in floor pits: For furniture I’d look at “smart beds” and “smart sectionals” at jubilee furniture, Sobro coffee/dude tables, “prepdeck” for meal prep, kitchen sink workstation - a cutting board to use as a sink cover with containers underneath, (you could also add foldable legs underneath so it could easily stand up.) After that, for balconies and decks, I’d look up hammock stands and swing chairs or benches that can be converted into bunk beds to dinnette tables, and then more additional desk space behind. If you are willing to consider the four doors esp in the back you could sort of hollow out the roof door and store both a drop down shower or tent…. Etc, etc, etc… Another cool thing you can do on both of the exterior of the passenger side and drivers side at cockpit area - create slits in the outer shell and have pull out swivel dinnette tables, with swing away Bård stools latched on the body or legs/base so that if anyone seated inside of the vehicle, someone else can quite litterally “pull up a chair” and a desk/table/bar and hang out. :) Hope this helps! 😊

Jarrod! I been watching you for a long time , you went away for awhile , so happy to see you back . I'm kinda going to see if you can help me or some guidance to the right direction . Btw , I'm 65 senior citizen retired , I might become a homeless here cause I'm selling my very cheap condo , because it's not safe for me to live here anymore , no choice I really need to move . The condo is only $30K and it's in the process of getting sell I hope . $30K is all the money I have in my life , so I can't screw up on the decision I'm going to make . I'm already decided that I want to live in the camper van full time . I'm trying to find one that I can buy with the money I got , which means I'm looking for a used one . So many crooks out there and I'm old it's all the money I have , I don't want to get coned of buying a bad one and won't even last for few months and have so many issues . Please help me find a fordable one that I can live in for a long time . I know popular people like you knows a lot of people that may be you can trust for me not to get riffed off . That would really ruin my life and become a homeless . I do have a fixed income social security low income . And cannot afford a house with what I have or apartment rent . Can you help me and guide me to get a good deal . Shower is not very important for me but I gotta have a nice sized sink we're I can clean myself there . But I want my tiny living area to feel cozy and feels home . Hope I'm not bothering you too much , for some reason I feel that you might be able to help me . Hoping to hear from you .

I know it's common to not want to ask prices, but like... look, I want to know. I get if I have to ask, I can't afford it, but like... even if I had a six figure income, I probably couldn't afford it THEN either so... humor me? xD

Consider this. It’s respect, and change of pricing. Once anyone says a price of anything then it’s locked into what this video says. Let’s say some someone watches video in 6-12 months. Look at all the things that could change in price, bumpers, suspension, roof rack, power system, solar panels, LABOR, windows, appliances, even price of wood changes. ALL of those things go into an estimate when a professional builds on a van. I also don’t share to respect the client that, in most cases don’t want to share the price. This is also why I ask the brand of products so the person watching can look up all the products and do their own homework. This is also why I started posting videos on why vans cost what they do. Maybe you’ve watched them but I’m trying to help educate those on van pricing. Including the van this total van and build is probably north of 200k but south of 300k

over/under 300k?
@JarrodTocci
@JarrodTocci Жыл бұрын
It’s between 200-400k 😉 if you’re truly interested then I’d say look up the parts I asked about and contact the builder for an estimate and add the cost of a van. You’ll have a better understanding of what all vans cost

@@JarrodTocci i’ve watched enough of your videos over the years (especially the ones where you break down online listings) to have a pretty good idea lol my guess for this one would be slightly under; i just enjoy trying to set the lines for over/unders

I'd say 170K plus the van, to include all the exterior upgrades

Shame he to afraid to tell us how much it cost to build the camper van. It help us decide should we go from Pre-made or Custom.

Didn’t forget. I asked the customer and some don’t like talking about price. Some of the builders I’ve shown have talked price many times. A custom van will cost $80-200k depending on what you want. That’s a wide range because there are that many options. It’s hard to gauge what a custom van will cost off one van. It’s also hard to gauge what a diy van will cost too. That’s why I ask product names so the person can look up what each item is and determine how much and how difficult it might be to install or build. Lastly time is a value as well and something to consider

Honestly if it doesn't have a bed lift you better off living in a car

Yeah, the kitchen, large bed, table, full bathroom, internet, solar, ability to standup and walk around in isn’t that important for a live in vehicle.

@@karenpsrsons1596It could… but we wanted something that will get us somewhere off-road and off the beaten path. That allows us better maneuverability and put our bikes safely inside. That can go farther, and give us better mileage and performance. That isn’t made of cheap materials and lesser components. So instead, it put us into exactly what WE wanted.

Incinerator toilet is the way to go with a mini indoor fire box to heat the van and panoramic day night surveillance camera system on the roof. Might as well go with Armour plating, bullet proof glass and run flat tires, when you show you have money, expect the undesirables wanting to rob you at gun point…

All I can say is WOW!!!! I would absolutely love to live in this rig I mean I am not at all surprised with the amazing and beautiful woodworking that Mark did (along with his entire team that also need major shout outs) but all the storage put in all the nooks and crannies, and I really wish he would have given a ballpark figure for cost because I'm very curious but also know probably well over $130,000.00. Thanks again Jarrod for another amazing tour! 🚐
