Exactly!!! Took the words right out of my mouth. Don Frye keeps it 💯, and is obviously one of the toughest men on the planet, so when he says “he’s scary”….. that tells me if I ever saw this guy and he came after me….. I would probably be saying my last words and scrambling every where to just get tf out of there in one piece lol

What I love about Haku/Tonga is that when asked about his fighting skills or complimented, he just quietly chuckles, smiles, and says thank you. Seems like all the wrestlers who knew him feared & respected him, but they also said what a nice person he was. Just don't ever cross him!

Always like Matt’s calm and appreciative demeanor. He treats his KZfaq guests with class and dignity. As for Tonga or Spiers, jeeeze man I’d rather they got along. Although, I know Mr Spiers passed on way too soon, there’s a decent chance that if they did fight, they may end up in a draw if sanctioned with sone rules. If on street, it would come down to the reason to even go there. Both men looked phenomenal.

Matt , a fighter who hardly gets a mention , probally has one of the best boxing records in history who had 47 fights including 2 loses between the age of 20 to 28 after which he called it a day before coming back 10 years later to have 30 odd fights before retiring at 48 years old , 81 fights and just 5 loses and still alive today . One boxer you never hear about was the Canadian Heavyweight Boxing Champion George Chuvalo. He fought, and lost, to most of the top US fighters. What makes him so impressive is that he was never knocked down. He fought Ali and lost by decision. When asked about it he said after the fight Ali went to the hospital. I went dancing. Ali refused to ever fight him again.

Now, when legit guys talk about Tonga....u will literally never hear a single person say, anywhere, that they thought there was another guy who could beat him. Chris Jericho had Haku on his podcast and told a story of when both of them were wrestling in Mexico on a stint for the WCW. They were traveling together even though Chris was a babyface and Haku was a heel. Chris said he arrived at the airport about 10 minutes before Haku as both were flying back to the US. Chris was the Cruiserweight champion and had to carry the belt with him and as he was going through customs, the customs officers started harassing him about the belt. Chris said the customs officers told him he could board the plane but he would have to leave the belt. He said he couldn't do that because if he came back without the belt, he would have to pay for a new one. The customs officers said if he gave them $300 they would let him board with the belt to which Chris responded loudly that they were trying to use their power to extort money from him. The argument at this point got very loud and threatening. About this time Chris said he heard a loud voice yell, "Chris, are you ok?" He said he looked back and all he saw were people literally flying through the air. Haku said all I heard was you and people yelling at you and I had to make sure my friend was okay! Chris said that neither one of us made the flight and were put in "airport" jail and missed the WCW event they were flying to. Chris said he looks back on that day, and the 2 things that stood out about that day was Haku yelling, " Chris are you okay?" and the people being tossed around so you could make sure I was okay. Haku said " Chris, you are my friend, and I love you, and I will not let anyone hurt my friends and people that I love, Bruddah!" That to me shows you what type of person Haku is.

Respect to everyone who was even discussed in this video. I'm sure that they could all kick some butt. I have to correct 1 thing which the video maker failed to point out about Mike Tyson. It's the fact that there's a huge difference between getting hit in a boxing match by a guy wearing gloves and getting hit in a street fight by a guy wearing no gloves. We all saw Mike in his prime KO guys in the ring, but we didn't see him hit anyone without the gloves (just bare knuckles). I'm sure Tonga was tuff, but I couldn't imagine him taking multiple strikes from Tyson with bare knuckles.

Harley Race would be a good candidate, I heard someone say Andre the Giant feared only two men and that Haku and Harley Race. Awesome video, really well done as always! I'm doing much better since last year with my dad passing as well as three friends - pretty brutal year! I haven't smoked or drank for over a month now and I can easily see myself in the same way six months from now. The exercise comes next now I'm confident that the hard part of quitting is out of the way!

Hey Matt love the content, a pro wrestler worth looking into it "Mad Dog Vachon" He was an Olympic wrestler and was known as the toughest bouncer in Montreal before going to Pro Wrestling, there's plenty of stories of him being vicious in street fights even biting off someone's finger and pulling eyes out! That kind of vicious streak with amateur wrestling skills is a hard combination to beat. There's a short documentary on here about 15 minutes where he's interviewed about why he'd use those tactics in a fight and he says "Because they would do the same to me if they could" A very intimidating man.

@@mattlegg1976 You might want to check out Haku's skills set a bit more. Judo/Sumo, and beautiful, fast, accurate kicks with superb flexibility, even when he was getting old (see his wrestling match as 'Meng' vs the Giant...that standing side headkick is a thing of beauty, and I suspect a small 'receipt' for the giant perhaps being a bit stiff). Other wrestlers' have mentioned he used to practice fast punching drills. The guy could strike. Taken into account what Barb says about his strength re: weights, the guy would be a nightmare. I don't see Lenny or Gary having much of a chance. Both were not super skilled, no matter what some claim, and both relied on rep, and 'no brakes' for many encounters. That doesn't mean they weren't dangerous, but against a beast like Haku who thrived on close up, bite your nose off, bite a chunk out of your back, pop your eyeball, encounters...hmmm....

Difficult call between a prime Spiers vs Tonga. Tonga may just edge it but one thing for sure is the clean up of body parts afterwards would be horrendous. Would need to call in a mafia clean up team just to tidy up. Great content Matt and looks like the channel is going well. @@tonywilson4339 nice one for more info on Gary, he sounds tough as nails. It's just hard to imagine he's on the same level as Tonga tho, there is a video on KZfaq somewhere of Tonga having his was with the big show who's like 7ft 500 pounds. Every wrestler was scared of him, even the likes of Don fry ect. I'm pretty sure ken shamrock and Steve Blackman would take out Gary quite easily let alone Tonga. But then again I don't know as much about Gary so maybe I'm just biased.

I love this channel. I remember before I ever got to see a Shoot style interview on professional wrestlers. Before ever hearing stories about how much of a bad ass he really was. Always knew they was something unique and special about Haku/Meng. Didn’t get to see his WWF stuff. So the first time I laid eyes on him. Was a WCW Saturday Night show. He came out as Colonel Robert Parker’s bodyguard with the dark shades on. You wanna talk about believability he had it in spades. I’m so fascinated with this man’s story. I’ve always loved the real legit tough guy bad asses from Professional Wrestling. Which is why I am also a huge fan of the UFC/Combat Sports. Just martial arts fighting in general. I wish they was a major documentary on him. I get the WWE might not wanna produce such a thing. Because of the graphic nature of events Mr. Tongo took part in. But, boy would I love it so much.lol. This man’s story deserves to be told. Thanks for the video.

Haku/Tonga is one of those people who come along once in 50 years or so with the perfect combination of size, strength, big boned thick physique, speed, immunity to pain, high kicks, punches, wrestling, and an unimaginable brutal mindset ready to do anything. Plus he has Polynesian blood running through his veins and everyone knows that the Pacific islanders are built differently and have a warrior mindset. He would kill anyone in a streetfight. He is once known to have knocked out 5 Marines in few seconds according to legendary tough guy Rick Steiner who witnessed it.
