Why? She clearly had more than one bad call. So she's a colorful person, she was right. Koop's serve was illegal and not being called. That's why there are rules.

I don't know, I'm the type of guy who LOVES seeing poor sportsmanship LOSE...and BIG. LOLOL! Regardless of a few calls gone bad, Koop and Kawamoto rightfully DESERVED the W. I'm happy for them.

@@millisock Not sure if she intentionally cheated. She's pretty tall, therefore, having to compensate for her height. For me, Evil did all the screaming and complaining that day. My Wife and I are new to Pickleball (4 months now), and every instructor I've been taught by, expressed how Pickleball was created for fun, to be fun and with respect and so on for whom I am playing with and against. However, I understood that there would always be a competitive nature to it as well, but man, this one was intense, and I'm glad that I'm not in it for any trophies. I compete in another sport anyway, so it's all good. I was more taken back by how intensely disrespectful people can be in this particular sport. And heck, Kawamoto was disrespected big time.

So this is interesting. I’ve started watching quite a bit of pickleball on KZfaq and have developed a bit of a disliking for Jansen. I wasn’t quite sure why but I had started rooting against her. It was something about the way she carried herself that gave me the sense that she was not the most peasant person in the world. Wow was my instinct right. This match is embarrassing for her. Regardless of the missed calls and controversy, there’s a way to handle things with dignity. There was nine of that evident her. My props to her opponents for keeping their cool.

I mean Jansen did not handle it well, but Koop was consistently using an illegal serve and the refs weren’t calling it (per usual) - the fact she had to challenge the serve would be VERY frustrating if I was in her shoes. Plus bad line calls by Koop - that final line call would be hard to swallow, that seems too close to call a match - someone like Ben Johns would never end a match with that call.

Your commentary and video pausing seems to indicate that the problem with Koop's out-of-hand serve is that she is releasing the ball too high. As I read the the USAPA rules, there is no specifications as to where the ball is released, only that the point of contact must be below the waist (navel if you can see that). Am I missing something in the 2024 USAPA serve rules?

The part about Jay is in really poor taste. He may have torn ligaments. It could be a very serious injury, and you're making fun of the guy. That shit hurts man. I had to have surgery to repair ligaments after a similar injury and it's never been the same.

The family guy bit is about exaggerating a trivial injury. Ankle trauma is not a trivial injury; it hurts like hell and can lead to irreversible damage and loss of function. You can't see! That's a nice way of calling someone a cheater. They need a better line call system instead of opponents calling your ball out, and the old referees don't want to get involved. I also don't like Lea whacking her shoulders and hips before every point.

I wonder if Big Pickle is purposefully suppressing better line call tech to promote controversy and rivalries in an effort to generate buzz for the sport. Some humans find it very difficult to be honest in sport when they have to self govern where money /ego / social status is on the line. Some people become h o o k e r s more easily than others.
