Yeah hey Jimmy long time viewer first time caller here, I can't help but notice you don't have a dedicated pouch for poptarts included here, is there one you recommend or do you off body poptart? Thanks in advance.

Hey @shhhboss3139 excellent question, pop tarts must always be on body. It’s a non negotiable. They are to be protected at all costs

Fun fact! The Real Avid Torque Screwdriver comes with a detachable mini screwdriver and bit set. I use it as an EDC screwdriver/bit set. It’s small enough to be carried in pouches/pockets but big enough to use on small & big-ish repairs. It’s perfect! And I also have my torque screwdriver to ensure everything is up to spec.

super glad you made this video. I constantly think about what to put in my repair kit and this helps me narrow it down to key items instead of all my tools. Great vid.

I’ve got a DAKA Takeout with a screwdriver set, my stapler, wrenches for my can, wrench for my adjustable gas block, paint can key, lube, and a few other odds and ends in it. It comes in handy every time I’m out at the range.

Well done mate. I keep a range maintenance kit myself from something my in-laws got me that I customized. I lost count how many times I've had to use it for other people.

I started keeping a length of bike tire innertube in my kit, really helps if you need to get a better grip on something and you can cut off sections for a quick band to hold stuff together.

I like your kit. I need to add the fix it stick to my set up. A .308 or similar case scrapes the bolt tail better than a bone tool. IMI makes a good basic cleaning kit with mil spec rod that includes a decent little pouch and brushes. I don’t clean with it, but want it for emergencies. I keep a Nightforce lens cleaning cloth with my kit too. Alg go juice comes in tiny disposable packets that can be handy. A Glock tool works well for a trigger punch.

Thank you for this. I've been working on putting together a similar kit. This video is really helpful. A cool review would be comparing different AR multi tools. Leatherman, Gerber, Real Avid, ect.

Great video! I carry a really cool tool kit in a waxed canvas bag (the bag is 10 1/2” long and 2.25” wide and tall, it’s a long rectangle). It fits just about every tool you need to service the basic elements of an AR and all of the optics and Mlok items and it stuffs just about anywhere in my range gear. I carry oil/lube in several parts of my kit as that is essential to have all the time. I do need to add some basic cleaning items like you have so thanks for detailing out what you carry.

Harbor freight used to sell a really good combo set that had a metric, SAE, and torx that covered the most common gun sizes on one of those fold out things. Now they sell this big one that's giant and made of plastic, that, a bottle of lube, a cleaning rod, and some paper towels have saved me at many shooting events. TBH, I think people over-think gun cleaning and worry too much about cleaning tools scratching the bore. For the longest time the dominant thinking was plastic coated rods, then finely polished stainless steel rods, and etc etc. I think for a multi-part rod, brass cleaning rods will not scratch, and are good enough for tasks like punching out stuck cases. Squibs are their own problem, I'd probably keep a one piece rod in my bag for that level of problem.

I think there is some truth to not using the brass rods especially on precision barrels. I don’t see to many bolt gun guys using them for a reason
@highdesertdrew1844
@highdesertdrew1844 6 ай бұрын
@@jimmybrodriguez Main reason not to use them is they break more easily, and are not as stiff as a steel rod. The main problem with any multi-part rod is the joints sticking out and possibly scoring the surface. I use a long stainless cleaning rod at home, but a conventional brass cleaning rod in the field. Different tools for different jobs, and I am usually a bolt gun guy.

Awesome content. Question: can brass actually scratch the inside of a 4150cmv barrel? Not a metallurgist, but don’t we use brass because it’s softer and won’t scratch our bore? Thanks 😊
@jimmybrodriguez
@jimmybrodriguez 6 ай бұрын
I’m sure there are much smarter more educated people that can better answer this but my understanding is it can mare the rifling grooves and since I shoot precision barrels I’m just taking precautions
