I once ran this for my brother once and got an archer as one of the people that was dps. They were not using aoes and were not even attacking the boss with their main attacks. I think they were just using caustic arrow. I doubt they have done even a single job quest for the class.

A very reasonable observation, I had considered that too after the fact ah🥲🩷 I do hope they improve and learn the ins and outs of the game in the future! I found this game too when I was younger when heavensward released i was maybe 12-13yo and I didn't quite understand what I was doing 🤣 I understood gear needing to be up to date but crafting systems, healing, tanking, dps roles, places to not stand?? Nope 🤣🤣 best case scenario this is a learning opportunity and they will continue to improve at the game in years to come :))

I also found this game young (not specifying so I don’t dox myself), can tell you with confidence I sucked incredibly. I kept my gear up to date because I had someone introduce me to the game, but I still had only a below basic grasp on how my job played and the best you could say was that I dodged AoEs. I even remember wiping the party multiple times on Ifrit normal mode because I didn’t have the concept of a “mechanic” in my head at all. I got better though, hopefully this person will too.

This notion always crosses my mind when I see someone struggling. However, if they respond with a rude reply, I lose empathy for them, regardless if they are a kid or not.

I'm still pretty new to the game myself, but fortunately between the helpful community, and the fact that I've been playing MMO's for years learning the game was not that difficult, because I already understood the basics.

​@@varia2354 lmao same. I vaguely remember, back in ARR, queing into copperbell mines for the first time on PLD and not understanding what a tank was at all. I also just spammed shield bash fsr. The people in the dungeon were ofc fed up with me not being able to wrap my head around anything and, I think, kicked me eventually? When I came back to the game in ShB, I still sucked at first, but at least I was at an age where I could more easily absorb the information on screen and learn from my mistakes.

Ive gotten in situations where the tank just left after I explained them the mechanics after dying 100 times Draining my MP whilst im using lucid dreaming and potions. Just stood there in every aoe. Then that MF's gear broke. It was a dissaster. Then he just left and another tank came and we were so blessed. Got trough it clean

@@iambecomegameend2972other MMOs, I think in WoW it’s a form of mitigation if you do it correctly. I could be wrong, might be that they think they won’t get autoed if they aren’t standing directly in front of it.

@SigmaTheWhiteFlame I played WoW for a decade and the only time bosses spun was for joke/trolling purposes. Tanks who spin in duty roulette are definitely trolling.

happened to me when we did aurum vale, dude killed us twice, i was playing dragoon, and the healer and i asked nicely, “please stop spinning the boss around” and he kept doing it. healer just decided to let him die while he kept me and the other melee DPS healed while we finished it off, lmao

Yeah, I had a similar tank in one run. Half the dungeon didn't have tank stance on. Both I(the healer) and one of the other DPS politely asked him to turn tank stance on several times. Nothing, no response. So, after about half the dungeon like this, the Ninja started running ahead and going full tank mode, leaving the actual tank behind. I caught on pretty quick as to what the Ninja was up to and started treating the Ninja as the new tank. But, because I was now focused on a slightly squishier tank, the actual tank died a couple of times. After the second time, he finally turned on tank stance. But even then, was really bad at it. Like, as soon as tank stance was turned on, he completely forgot about AOE skills and started focusing on one enemy at a time, meaning the Ninja was still tanking the rest of the mobs. All things considered, the Ninja and I combined managed to get through the rest of the dungeon, with some help from the second DPS. Awesome thing was, the Ninja tracked me down later to apologize for going full tank mode and potentially making my life harder. They complimented my heals, and said that when they decide to start leveling their tank again, they want me as the healer. So, I made a new friend! To be clear, I was actually appreciative of the Ninja, stepping up and taking over the role of super damage focus like that. With zero communication between us. The Ninja was like "F--- it, I'm going ahead." And I was like "F--- it, I'm following the Ninja."

I once joined a level 51 dungeon and the tank had all broken gear. We had to slog through that dungeon and basically scavenge equipment for them to equip between fights.

​@panda6907 If I had to take a guess, they prioritized weapons/accessories instead of armor, considering they had lower HP than the healer. That or damaged gear.

Aurum Vale sucks because most of the people who join it are ass but you can w2w. Meanwhile stone vigil fucks your ass if you try to pull 3 extra mobs.

Joining an FC with people who are cool and care and are patient enough to explain things allows you to have the best experience of the game😊

Oh your one of those people who vote to dismiss people not knowing if they are new to the game or not. Most people don't pay attention to chat either cause of how toxic the FFXIV community can be so there's also another reason for this person not noticing what was being types to him. I guess I'm a much more patient healer than most cause I let DPS die and raise them rather than vote to dismiss them. If they are trolling thats a whole other argument.

@@ThaGodLegacyHD Actually, I never vote dismiss when I'm play healer before, that was my thought if I've met that situation myself😂. Luckily, almost newbie/sprout I've met can learn dungeon mechanic and dodge the same AoE within 1-4 K.O. If they show me a sign of learning, I'm so happy to help them clear the dungeon. 🙂
