Great review. Your experience mirrors mine when I replaced an Emotiva 7 channel amp (120w/ch) with a D-Sonic M3a-2800-7. I subsequently added a M3a-2400-6 for a total of 13 channels at 400w 8 ohms and 800w 4 ohms.

Your video inspired me to purchase a D-Sonic amplifier. I purchased the M3a-2800-7 for my system. The color of tone is completely transparent and the power it adds is stunning. My speakers sound like they are truly alive for the 1st time since I have owned them. My ears give out way before I even think of approaching its limit. Its all about the headroom. Great video! I also DJ'd a little bit when I was younger too, just weddings and at a few bar/clubs, audio was always important to me. Really like car audio a lot too, so I totally get what you are talking about with clipping etc... I live by one of the wolds largest malls that has a mega theater in it with an IMAX that I went to so often I made friends with mangers, and they wouldn't let me pay to get in if they saw me. Do you remember that movie Triple X, staring Vin Diesel? In that movie there was a scene of an avalanche that kept blowing the speakers in the IMAX theater constantly, because of clipping from distortion. The manager had hired 3 consultants to fix the problem, with no luck...but I knew what the problem was instantly from my car audio experience of blowing speaker that were under driven. Then I explained it to the manager what he needed to do to fix the issue, and deliver the performance they wanted in that large space. Can you believe they were driving two 22" drivers and a large horn with only 400watts? Now they are driven at 4000 watts each (max power recommended is 2200 watts), and after almost 18 years they are still going strong, but they could sure use some JTR subs though! Looked at the JTR web site for the Captivator 6000ULF that your setup says are coming soon, but couldn't find them on it?

I completely enjoyed your review. I have just ordered the 5 channel D Sonic, I just removed the 5 channel Rotel 1585 because of the Clipping. I couldn't find anything better for the money. Impatiently waiting now.

Hi, Are you running your Noesis 110HT with 400W from that amp and do they handle it no problem and is it overkill for surround (400W)? I have an order coming from JTR of 3 X 212HTR , 2 X Captivator RS2, 4 X 110HT, 4X 110HT SL and looking for amplifiers to replace my existing but old ADCOM amps. I know you used to DJ, but must say I am impressed with your grasp of technical design matters. Do you also have training as am engineer? I've never heard of your amp, but looks like good design. 75lbs is heavy. I know, as I am using 5 Class A amps in my system (all original Aragon amps) a 2 channel 8008 - weighs 75 lbs, two 8008X3 3 channel amps (to tri amp my front left & right speakers) - 65 lbs each, and a 41 lbs2 channel 8002. (I'm a fan of original Aragon amps) How is the power in Thailand? Have you had to do anything to get reliable, clean power at your house? I'd be much interested in any video you produce on your theater room, such as on electrical, sound treatment, etc. Cheers

Hello, I’m a brand new to home theater I never hooked up speakers, amps, or Receivers before. My understanding so far is that you connect the speakers directly to the amplifier either by rca to xlr or rca to rca, then connect a separate rca at the top of the back of your amplifier that connects to a (pre out) on the receiver? Please tell me if my understanding is correct I would very much appreciate it🙏🏾

omg the hum.....i had this issue too, and its coming from the neighbors, they get home at 5pm and then my sub starts humming, i ran around the house with an extension cord to the HT room.....trying out all outlets....they all hummed ......got a monster HT powerstrip with filtering capability, helped a tiny bit, called the sub company angry that their product was humming.....they said get an emotiva power filter/strip and the problem solved...had two 20A dedicated circuits put in and they hum when the neighbors get home as well (im in a single family house, neighbors house is 30 feet away, but they must put the noise out to the telephone pole and from there to my house sigh, nothing i can do about it)

Holy F. just measured my listening levels. Even with Nirvana from 60 to 75dB peaks. With 101db speakers why on Earth i need 800 watts per channel? or maybe im old and you listen at 99 db? When subs are active, is tube amp with 6 wpc strong enough? My room in 42 sqm. Ok maybe yours is 120 sqm and you are 7 meters from speakers?

Please, please please. Hook up Audio Fosi v3 which is up to 300wpc with biggest power supply. to your JTR and report to us how the sound is with your 101db sensitive mains. Is 300wpc enough? LOL. best part is , it costs $120 or so

Why not get a Good a/b amp? 200-300 watt it's plenty power to driver your speakers. Look for how mutch db per meter your speaker can produce .

After doing some research there is nothing proprietary about this amp. It uses Pascal Xpro-3 modules that come premade, which if you look on their website pdf documentation is a word for word copy of the Pascal data sheet with D-sonic branding. These are basically modular amps plugged into an enclosure. It is a bit dishonest of the seller hiding this fact as they are not D-sonic modules but Pascal. Yes there is some care that goes into assembly, enclosure and wiring. But it can be purchased for much cheaper from alternative vendors, which are more honest about the modules and don’t try to pass themselves off as having their own proprietary components. For this reason they will not get my business.
