my friend and I both have the original mesa trail, and we both noticed the lack of grip. Not sure if it's just the material that the lugs are made out of, but the grip is definitely sub par

You may like the Xero Scambler Low better. I noticed an enhanced grip to the sole. Here's my review on it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpN_p7Sfz9PUg6s.htmlsi=bAfj4MXTG_jVwCiD

Depending on what you're doing, you may like the Scambler Low ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpN_p7Sfz9PUg6s.htmlsi=VbMIXdJDQOx9sqzu ) or Scrambler Mid ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m6iWkpN3q8_XpZ8.htmlsi=qXqd1A_hvJ_D2mCT ). The Scramber Low is probably my favorite trail running shoe Xero makes right now with the Mesa Trail II a very, very close second. The Scrambler Mid is an outstanding hiking boot. I don't do much hiking, so I gifted my pair to my brother, and avid hiker, and he absolutely loves them.

Hello!!! first sorry for my English, I am using a translator. I always run with my huaraches sandals with 10mm soles and I run long 20k runs perfectly without problems. I'm looking for running shoes with a 10mm or so thick sole that will allow me to run just like my huaraches, which one do you recommend? xero trail mesa II or Xero Scrambler? Thank you so much!

Hello! That would depend on what style and terrain you're running on. The only road shoes for pavement I can speak for running on hard streets or pavement would be the Xero Forza Runner: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/odp2grWJvtnQYZs.html When it comes to trails, the Xero Mesa Trail II (this shoe) or the Xero Scrambler Low, which also feels a little bit wider to me as well as better able to handle roads when needed. Here is my review on them: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpN_p7Sfz9PUg6s.htmlsi=bAfj4MXTG_jVwCiD But if you like huaraches, why are you looking at shoes? I run in huaraches about 95% of the time, even when the weather is very cold. To combat the cold, I wear either toe-socks (like gloves for your feet) or what are called "tabi" or "jikatabi" socks from Japan, that allow the big toe to be independent of the rest. You can find tabi socks on Amazon.

Im very curious about the duration of these shoes.. how long do you think it will last? Thanks alot

I couldn't say just yet but they seem pretty tough! However, most flexible shoes will be more prone to wear than rigid ones--that seems to be one of the trade-offs.

I find that barefoot shoes are actually more durable than conventional shoes. Without the foam midsole, barefoot shoes last me 800-1000 miles easily, vs 350-500 miles for regular shoes

@@keneticchannel TBH I can't run in a shoe without lots of support any more, my old bones are too weak, but I'm itching to give them a try. I race in lightweight shoes over short distances 5 and 10 k's, so I might give bare foot a go, do you know any older runners who use them, and their opinions?
@keneticchannel
@keneticchannel Жыл бұрын
@@the-demented-runner I understand, buddy! But yes, I do know an older runner that runs in such shoes and sometimes no shoes at all! Keith Bateman, co-author of Older Yet Faster, runs in minimalist shoes or no shoes at all and holds several world 55+ age division records. Actually, I made a review about that book and how it completely overhauled my running technique. Here's that book review: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jKhjhsyEqp-rlJs.html

Would these have enough traction to play soccer on grass?
@keneticchannel
@keneticchannel Жыл бұрын
Probably better than most barefoot-style shoes, but not quiiiiite as good as full-blown cleats. That being said, I wear a pair to mow my yard.

@keneticchannel

@@mrcrede244 To a degree, yes. They're designed for trail running. Not as well as cleats, obviously, but much better than road or gym trainers.
