I bought a green metal wagon, the sides flip down so I can use it as a gardening seat, haul oversized stuff, or I can put the sides back up to haul stuff that way too. I love it because it is really easy for me to maneuver around. Its got big wheels, rides smooth, good clearance off the ground, just what I needed. An older persons best friend. 👍💜 Great gift for the avid gardener and homesteader on your list at Mothers Day, Fathers day etc. Work smart not hard, sure saves this old ladies back. Love your cart, Al.

Al, I bought a similar running gear from Northern Tool about two years ago to make a wagon to take grandkids on hay rides. Three of the rims bent beyond repair because they were so lightweight just going thru fields. I had to buy new ones from Tractor Supply. They were heaver.

You could build a wagon using a front axle from a riding mower, perhaps from a local scrap yard. You might be able to get used steel there and tires on wheels from other riding mowers. I have one made this way that is all angle iron frame, and uses aircraft tires on go-kart wheels. The local airport gave me the tires. The axles are 3/4", so they are better than some of the wagon kits on the market. Another option would be a front golf cart from axle, modified to be wider, and a trailer axle on the back. Depending on the bolt pattern, you might be able to use used golf cart tires, or trailer tires. I plan to make one like this in the near future.

Goooood Morning Al , Another happy and rainy Monday ! I was looking at the entrance to the outdoor kitchen. You have concrete where you need it for entering the outdoor kitchen. And now you have open areas to the right and left. Unless you will need a concrete apron all the way across for some reason , I would fill those two areas with planting mix , soil and compost and plant a mix of annual flower seeds there. Sort of an on ground planter box. Which would add a nice spot of pretty color for you. I usually try to plant with some utility in mind. Visual beauty , fragrance, but sometimes just flowers is ice. , edible , etc. In the fall you could plant some seeds for a few perennials that you will not have to plant year after year. When I am building things of wood for outside , I usually add exterior wood glue to all joints in addition to screws. The exterior wood glue makes the structure much stronger.

Very nice. My brother has a large hay wagon from back in the day. Every year he and my sister in law invite the whole family for a hayride. He usually uses the tractor, but now there are too many of us to fit on the wagon. Last time he used his pickup to pull the wagon, and they put hay in the truck bed and the teenagers rode there. Us olders rode on the wagon with all the youngsters in the middle. Maybe we'll have to split up into 2 groups. It's fun and funny. A tradition our father started in the 70's, when the first grandchildren were little.

Bumping chickens in the back of the tractor...Add a "bumper" a few inches in front of the rear base board and several inches off the ground. It can be a 2x2, a dowel or a taught wire or cord, that doesn't sag down to the ground. It will nudge the chickens along without catching their feet when you pull the tractor forward.

Joe Salazar says they now the grass around his chicken tractors because chickens like short grass. He says the can't eat long grass like bigger birds do. Maybe that's why your chickens aren't eating all the grass. Just a thought.

Oh how I wished I saw/you made this video a year ago!! I got the exact same trailer kit. Those brackets perplexed me for quite a while and while I got a workable solution that has held up well for a year now, your way of making a slot in the 4x6 and then inserting them could've saved me a day of labor and many lag bolts - LOL. (I ended up using 2x10s and running them crosswise between the wheels first and then building a frame on top of that, which solved the problem of the wheels hitting since the frame was now higher than the wheels. Looks great Al!

I looked at the date on this video and also noticed you had only got the center slab done on the barn. When I watched the barn build, I never bothered to look at the date. You've built the barn, finished both sides of it, insulated and paneled the inside, did the milking room and area for the goats, put in lighting, the workbenches, built the saw workstation, and more in less than a year! Determined, dedicated, persevering, diligent, hard-working dude! Kudos to you both! I'm amazed at how much you've accomplished! Do you really speed up the videos or is that truly how fast you work? 🤔 That must be it - you actually work at super hedgehog speed! 😉😁

p.s. Al, you listed a lot of great uses for this trailer. I thought of something - why not come up with an anchoring system where you have interchangeable parts that fit your need i.e. benches for hay rides, seat for driving, shelves/containers for veg collection, etc. Perhaps have them all anchored into those 2x4s you mentioned with a wooden dowel system (probably a better method, but I think you get the idea, right). Think of it as a grownups Lego wagon - lol

It's so funny going between now and 2-3yrs ago, all the changes and improvements (outdoor kitchen and pasture clearing I'm looking at you guys) and the new animals (though Pluto is the same), I think there will be several sets of pigs from mid 2017 (Spots and Mrs Pigs) to mid 2019 and many many different chickens/ducks. I'm sure that wagon will be fully utilised for a lot of things including stuff you have not even imagined yet.

There are loss factors due to length of run and connected load ( amperage). If the wire is to small voltage drops will cause higher amps which will cause more heat and stress on the wires leading to a multitude of failures.
