I have this amp as my ref. It replaced a Gold Note amp that costs more. I like it a lot. Thomas is really good to work with as well. Zero concerns with getting looked after.

There are a pair of valve/tube amps, from your country that can drive the MBL Extremes.. When I heard them, actually when I saw them I started looking for a pair of massive solid state amps driving kW's into 2 or even 1 Ohm behind the curtains..Remember it's not about wattage it's about current..A 50W amp if it has great current drive can out preform a 200W amp..These used pentodes,that's a clue came in cherry red another clue, and they can do holographics like SE's plus the power and bass like solid state..Can you guess the brand or the amps?? You have three chances lol..Anyway great video..I really want to build the open baffles but not as you would think and not in wood or a wood you would use..Try saying that 3 times quickly 🙂

Hi James, how does it compare to your Primaluna Floyd? I believe that would be a fair comparison compared to the Dialog. Keep up the great content!

So, the PL Floyd is a $7500 hybrid, and not sure if that is a relevant comparison. But it may be the Dialogue Premium or the new EVO that replaced it. I would say the PL integrated amp has the PL "House Sound" and never disappoints. And if you LOVE the PL vibe, I would stick with it! The thing the $4500 Galion TS120 SE brings is a variety of sound signatures, dedicated Class A/AB switchable, and a large handful of sound signatures, even before you get to tube rolling. So I would just say this: if you are someone who is into tweaking your system, I would go with the TS120. If you want a tried and true, set it and forget it, last a long time option, then PLDP or EVO..... The thing about the TS120 is we don't know about longevity, and customer service yet. Although, dealing with Thomas, I assume it will be great. Hope that helps.

Everything Thomas has put out has been well reviewed I am always concerned about janky Chinese wiring and build quality with tube amplifiers Probably unavoidable but he may have cracked the code with this one

While this has been well reviewed, I have to ask if its a little bit late to the game? I mean why buy a tube amp that draws a lot of power (relative) to a Class D GaN amp? Besides the power consumption, there's a lot of heat too. I think he's done a great job marketing it, but lets put it side by side w a Peachtree GaN amp. Depending on the upgrades, the amps price wise are comparable.

It is a bit like food. There is Korean food and there is French food. Class D lower midrange is on the linear side while class AB has.more.body in the lower mid. Both are good but if you want a lot of second harmonics for that euphonic voice , tube would be a better solution.

Am I correct that the basic purpose of a tube amplifier is to introduce distortion into the amplification path that the builder (and listener) finds pleasing? If so, isn’t there a cheaper and/or more efficient way to accomplish this task? I am not speaking of the ability of a tube amp to function as an in-room heater (for which there are also more efficient alternatives) but rather to its intended purpose of boosting the signal that comes from the preamp.

@@johnfisher3929 The Pandemic gave me time to set up 4 listening areas and a lab home office. I tried heated tubes and hybrid/solid-state PreAmp good Harmonics in you get good harmonics out. I was able to make a tube PreAmp into class A/B take ear level sound up past my 12 foot ceiling I was also able to stretch my speakers out 10-12 feet for a wide detailed Soundstage. It worked in 4 rooms now I've helped multiple friends do the same. I appreciate the guys that review new equipment that being said I tested multiple amps/integrated from current back 25 years
