How do you have faith that can hold all of reality-the beautiful, the terrible, and everything in-between? The TODAY Show’s Savannah Guthrie thinks carefully about this question, especially given that her job is reporting the news every morning.
In this conversation, Kate and Savannah discuss:
- Savannah’s trick for handling difficult news every day
- How to adjust the dial on fear and hope when there is so much to be afraid of
- Making sense of the wisdom we can learn in the midst of difficult times-without saying ‘everything happens for a reason’ (because we would never do that to you)
- How we hope to be transformed by God’s love

I love this book and have shared with others. I skip around and God definitely speaks through this book. Your reflections on communion touched me with your thoughts on seeing people as God sees them. I used to give out communion and what a way to see the beauty of those who love God. Just one example from the book. You are a Vicar (voice) of Christ.

I loved this. Enjoyed both women and their thoughts. Especially loved the last part about continuing to do what you have to do, and when/if you have to make a decision, you'll be changed enough to make it. And believing that is faith. What a great thought!

I really enjoyed your podcast today, and just wanted to share a saying that my mom, who had lots of health issues her whole life, starting with her appendix bursting at 9 years old in 1939, she taught me and I have lived by it and shared with friends is, “ if the Lord brought me to it, the Lord will get me thought it”. Keep up the wonderful work, LOVE is the answer. Deanna

Hi, ladies....Wow: This is such a heartfelt, uplifting and engaging interview. Really enjoyed taking it in. Thanks, y'all! 👏And not sure if you'll ever see this, Savannah, but I had the immense privilege of hearing you interviewed today (at St. James Church in NYC), and it was fantastic. *YAY* Your candor, warmth, sense of humor and beautiful humanity come through, in all you do. And that's a true gift to so many of us. Fully coming out of the spiritual closet, so to speak, is not easy; however, you're still doing it, and you are richly blessing us with this process. I got to share the last compliment/question today, and I really meant what I said -- you, dear sister, are "walking the talk," in letting the Divine love you enough to be vulnerable and share the love of God (with the world at large). That's no small feat. Brava & keep on keeping on!! 🤍With Sincere Thanks & Love, Rev. Kat 😇

I definitely appreciate how they - intentionally or not - broke down traditionally held mental health/illness stigma during this episode. That's commendable.

Having Faith in God is a beautiful thing, but you cannot have Faith in God without first giving your heart and life to Jesus. Jesus said no man comes to the Father, but by me. The sad thing is that there was no Mention of Jesus Christ, only God. We fail to realize, that there are many Gods that people pray to, but their is only one Savior, Jesus Christ. Also, Jesus healed so that people could live, not die. I just hope and pray that this book talks about Jesus and the Holy Spirit as well, because you can't have one without the other! Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and there is no other way to heaven, except through him. Speak The Name Of Jesus 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 🙏🙏
