Honda introduced a groundbreaking concept with the NC700X. They innovatively positioned the engine low, resulting in a lower center of gravity. This unique design, similar to a scooter's engine layout, contributes to its exceptional handling and stability. Additionally, Honda relocated the gas tank under the seat, which is a feature seen in many of their models.
The NC700X featured a 670cc parallel-twin engine, delivering around 51 horsepower and impressive fuel efficiency of up to 64 miles per gallon. It offered a choice between a traditional manual transmission and Honda's Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), making it accessible to a wide range of riders.
In 2014, Honda upgraded the model to the NC750X, increasing the engine displacement to 745cc. This boost resulted in a power output of around 54 horsepower and slightly improved fuel economy, maintaining its status as one of the most economical bikes available. The NC750X continues to offer the DCT option, enhancing its appeal with seamless shifting and ease of use.

I ride the DCT. I got used to the paddles pretty quickly. I now run it in manual mode exclusive, since I also prefer to chose what gear I'm in. M mode, is like having a really good quickshifter. The Engine is amazing, it doesn't burn oil like some bikes do. The oil stays clean like forever. the 750 is a quick bike, as long as you're in the right gear. Cons - really bad suspension, slightly heavy for a commuter. But love it overall.

Yeah the suspension is a little surprising. Do you have 750 or 700? I dont remember the 700 being this harsh.

I just don't get who it's for? Why not just buy a lower-capacity bike that's got a more interesting engine? I would take the 500NX instead?

It's a good point. I think for me i like an interesting engine. The nc revs so low. Yesterday i averaged 85mpg. Thats incredible for a 750cc. With a low revving engine its more durable, less stress on the engine. But i get it, the cb500x is a more fun bike to ride. But if you are into priuses and hypermiling the nc750x is it. 😁
