My mother had initially stated she would pay for the flowers, but then started saying that my choice of lavender and rosemary (the literal theme of the wedding!) was "cheap" and "looked poor" because lavender and rosemary are poor man's plants; I really wanted there to be NO cut flowers: I wanted everything to be alive, including my bouquet. she tried pushing for something else...We called the florist and told her we would be paying and that we would make all the decisions. We loved our day and all the wedding arrangements were planted in a garden, including my bouquet. I strongly recommend buying your own things: you'll spend more, but you'll be free from pressure of any "gift givers"
