Have you ever noticed that neither Gomez or Morticia ever criticize or talk down to each other. Total respect all the time. They are the perfect example of how husbands and wives should treat each other.

I absolutely love Lurch’s actor! He knows how to play the supernatural- ish character really well like Morticias actress did. He could have the deepest and most monotone voice but still portray what Lurch is feeling. Of course his height is a big part of selling his character but the actor himself is what really brings Lurch to life (not literally of course)

As a teen, I used to fold my arms and position my hands just like Morticia. I grew my nails long, just so I could pose like her with more effect LOL. I wanted to look like her, and have her mannerisms. She was always lovely to me, and I could never understand why people (in the show) thought the Addams' were so weird. @@CJ-hz1uj Yes, well, when doing experiments as an undergraduate in organic chemistry the entire 3 story science building had to be evacuated for the day because even the hazmat people were having trouble getting into the lab I had mixed up something I got into no trouble. Why? Because everybody was happy to take the day off. They knew it was me because of my habit of washing my hands with concentrated sulfuric acid to show off. Who else could breathe the noxious fumes and not complain? My sweat was so acidic when I was young that I had to change the latex gloves every 10 minutes in anatomy class. They would first turn dark brown and fall off my hands in pieces. I of course was elected to saw the cadaver in half with a hand saw. However, the thanksgiving evening I literally blew up my kitchen with the entire meal prepared for 30 people; well the women were not happy. Especially when I said "no problem, I'll order pizza". The men and grandchildren loved it though. I was barred from the kitchen over a year. I would tell you about other members of my family but each "peculiar person" would take their own book to do justice. Only would mention Mishu, our now dead black cat, who decided to stick her but into my armpit at 3AM so I would midwife her as she gave birth. The kids were small then and my wife called them to see it. They kept going on about, "you see, Mishu knows Dad's a Doctor." Anyway, 2 months ago I spent 5 hours explaining things to the FBI, again, no charges will be filed. I just don't seem to fit "the parameters" but nothing I do is illegal, just unusual. Like having homeless men in our house to detox not as part of any program. Or cooking up medicine in the kitchen, no controlled substances, just stuff. I am NIH certified and principal investigator at 2 human research centers. I was great when the kids went to kindergarten for show and tell. I would have them answer to the whole class when asked, "what does your daddy do?" He makes and recommends drugs. I would also make whymes out of their Dr notes. Long and epic stories of rhyme. My wife with her clam elitist Morticia pose would explain at the parent teacher meetings about me. Mi querida. Yes, we are all immortal. I am not joking.

I can't count the number of times I've seen this episode and all the others over the years. They are still great viewing, and I never tire of seeing them. Always get a laugh from them!

Relationship goals, right?

I had the same thought just a moment ago :) I dare to say that even as a fictional couple, they are wonderful role models. Their ego's are outrageously playful but they never cross the line by using hurtful, condescending words or expecting others to make amends. Passionate and nurturing, indeed the best relationship goals.

I used to watch this when I was a kid. Watching it now they are such a nice family. I haven't seen Lurch this cute and with a different side of his character.

It still delights me how great a couple Morticia and Gomez were. A model couple and family. The creators of this show were rather clever indeed, doing away with false virtue and empty Sunday morality to exemplify humanism so darkly and brilliantly. A timeless classic.

That's funny. I taught my niece for the same reason. I had forgotten until you mentioned it.
