Considering the time period this was made, they really did a fantastic makeup job making Herman look like a normal human in this episode. No CGI or anything, practical effects are always the best, I say.

My mom had a children's book that Fred wrote after his time on . She lost it in a move as a child; I found a copy of the book at a book sale four years ago and bought it for $0.50. I gave it to her for her birthday, and she burst into tears, asking me where I got it. I told her I'd found it at the book sale I was at and how much it cost and she was stunned. Come to find out, she'd written her name on the first page when she was a child, and what had made her cry was that when she opened the book, and looked at the first page, it was her signature staring back at her.

This episode really shows how much expression Fred Gwynne could provide, without the burden of all that makeup. If he didn't have that, Herman Munster would not have been nearly as much fun to watch. He really made the character something special.

Great character Herman Munster, Sadly this character ruined Fred's Acting Career Because as soon as you heard his voice or facial expressions everyone type cast this man as that SIlly Frankenstein cartoon character , it took Fred year to shake it, he was such a great actor and artist who wrote many children's books, I met Fred son in Philadelphia while his son Evan was going to art school, He had his dad sign some Fan Photos for me, so generous. The Munsters will I think be in RE-runs for 100 years it is timeless and entertaining with out filth.
