In this video I am only using a 183m3/h chip collector for dust collection. So it will not be representative for dust collection on this saw, unless that is your setup as well. Hope you like the video. Cheers.

@@NomadMakes Hey Nomad, well I am actually brand new to woodworking. I have never had a saw before. not even a job site saw.. as a matter of fact.. i never owned a single tool until 2 months ago. and I'm 30 years old... BUT BETTER LATE THEN EVER! I never had any guidance from my parents and I finally found a hobby that I can make into my carrer. I will be posting KZfaq videos once i start making furniture and i appreciate your comment and your videos.

Thanks, Nomad, for the excellent outboxing. I like it. You shown you did not need to adjust 90 degree angle of your blade. Unfortunately my factory settings were not correct, it’s about 89,60 degrees. Would be great to see how to fix it. Appreciate your feedback! Greetings 👋

Hi! It’s been a while since I made the video. Do you mean 90 deg in tilt of the blade, or the blade being parallell to the miter tracks? For the blade there is an adjustment scew inside the cabinet. It’s easiest to get to if you remove the cabinet hatch on the left side of the cabinet. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers.

@Solariuman I see. If you look inside the cabinet while the blade is tilted to max and at 45 degrees, you will see that there are a screw on each side inside the the cabinet on the «front wall». These stop the tilt mechanism and is for fine adjustment of the endpoint. Hope that helps. Filming it is quite difficult.

I absolutely love the saw. It is, however, not perfect. And depening on which side of the Atlantic you are on, and on your budget - there may be better alternatives. Pros: - Quick change riving knife/blade guard - Motor brake (required in Europe so may not apply to US models) - Poweful/Heavy etc. Cons: - Dust collection - The fence is adequate, but there are better solutions out there

Nice video....just a comment regarding your comment about the fence on the LHS of the blade. I have made some 45 degree cuts and find when the blade tilts towards the guard, you are limited in the material size you can cut and it is risky. When the blade tilts away from the blade....much better....have fun...

Thank you, and congratulations on you purchase as well :-) It was not very complicated assembling and re-adjusting this saw. As I had to disassemble it, I cannot say how accurate it was set up from the factory. But you will probaby have to adjust the saw when you recieve it anyway. At least check it for accuracy. But I suggest you get some help lifting the table back on. Everything else is well explained in the users manual. Feel free to drop me a question if you have any when you get the saw. And I will see if I can help. Oh! And make sure to save the «keys» if you have to disassemble the wheels. They are very small and easy to miss.

Hello Nomad. I am also based in Norway and I am curious about the little brother of this saw, the Laguna Fusion 2. You have used your Laguna Saw for a few years how does it hold up and would you reccommend this brand to someone with fairly little experience but with a big passion for woodworking?

Hi Joakim! I am still extremely happy with my Laguna Fusion 3. It is by far my favorite tool in the workshop. That being said, I do not know the Fusion 2. However what I would look for in the saw is the quick change riving knife. Stop time for the saw blade is part of Norwegian tool regulation, so that should be covered on all these saws. Amount of experience is also a relative thing. Is this your first table saw?

Do you happen to remember the approx weights of the top vs the cabinet? I'm just about to get the same saw and have to also get it into my basement shop. This makes me much less nervous about getting the saw down my stairs!
@NomadMakes

The net weight of the saw is 157 Kg according to the maunal, which you most likely have to find online. I’d say that you must at least be 2 people to handle it. It’s very hard to guess what the ratio of weight between the top and cabinet is. But the problem with the cabinet is that it its hard get a good grip on. I would not suggest removing the motor unless you really know what you are doing. Good luck with the new saw. I love mine :-)

Hei.
@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes 5 ай бұрын
Hei Martin!
@MartinNyvoll-dz9yi
@MartinNyvoll-dz9yi 5 ай бұрын
@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes 5 ай бұрын
@MartinNyvoll-dz9yi Ja.

@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes 2 жыл бұрын

Hello Goran, funny thing, I did things in reverse. I purchased the Laguna Fusion 3 around May 2020. (I still have not used it, obviously tested it currently covered in machine wax) more about that in a mo. A few months ago following your video on the Dewalt DWE7485 table saw, I purchased one and have already used it, Great little machine. I also purchased the CMT 6mm kerf blade, I didn't know about this product before your video, so thank you. Coming back to my Laguna, I was very disappointed to find out that in the UK (I assume we have the same European specification saw) I'm unable to use a dado stack or a thin kerf blade? I was advised by Laguna UK that they cannot sell the thin kerf riving knife they sell to owners in the USA who can also use dado stacks in their Laguna fusion 3 table saw. The reason I was given for not being able to use a dado stack, was due the the electronic braked motor specification for UK saws. Not sure how Axminster Tools get round this with their Harvey variant? It still does not explain why, in the UK we cannot purchase the thin kerf riving knife. Unfortunately even if I was able to get one from the USA. The way the blade attaches to the arbour means the body of the blade must be slightly over 2mm therefore eliminating the thin kerf blades I have seen? Goran, I noticed in your more up to date instagram, you have several Luna Tools saw blades to test. These blades have a kerf of 2.4mm but more importantly the body of the blades are 1.4mm. How have you managed to secure the blade to the arbour of your saw? Sorry for the long comment but hopefully you have found a simple fix to my problem. Kind regards Pete
@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter! Yes, it really is a great little machine, like you say. And some details on it are more thought through than on the Laguna. Like the blade guard, for instance. The blade guard on the DeWalt is really nice with the slit that you can aim through when setting up the cut. The CMT blade is really nice, but quite prone to tear out. Especially on english oak. So, I am currently experimenting with scoring lines with a knife before the cut. I had to sell the DeWalt since I have so little space. The fact that I squeezed the Laguna into the shop is 1 of 2 luxuries I am allowing myself. The other is the lathe. I´d love to hear your story with the Laguna. Cheers.

Interesting. Being from USA I was unaware of this. I am not an expert but if you had a saw that would run full kerf blades why go to thin? I was under impression that they heat up, deflect and just don't have the carbide on the teeth. I am only asking because my current saw is a bit underpowered and can only run thin kerf blades. I thought stepping up to 220V 3HP (in USA) would be an advantage so I could use regular kerf blades. Why can't you use a dado stack?
@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes 3 жыл бұрын
I have to be honest, I do not know what the definition of a thin kerf is. But the riving knife is 2,2mm and the kerf of the Luna blades are 2,4mm. The supplier said I keeded a 0,2 clearance. And even though the riving knife is meant for a 10inch (254mm) blade a 250mm blade still clears the top of the knife. However, be aware that the riving knife spesifically says to use 254mm and larger than 3mm kerf...
@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes 3 жыл бұрын
I can use a dado stack on this saw, but I haven’t purchased one yet. On my DeWalt DWE7485 I could not. So I used a 6mm wide grooving blade. And when I sold the saw I kept the 6mm grooving blade.
@thinkwoodworking2916

@@NomadMakes Hello Goran, If you look on the Laguna USA web site, Fusion Table saw accessories the thin kerf riving knife is SKU: PTSF132110150-0130-000 $45.00 The riving knife is 2mm thick, for use with a 10" blade, blade body 1.8mm maximum, blade kerf 2.2mm minimum. Unfortunately Laguna are not allowed to sell it in UK due to CE specifications. I assume this is the same for Europe? What I was interested in, is how you fitted the Luna saw blade which have a 1.4mm blade body thickness, when the the Laguna 30mm blade securing washer has a 2mm flange meaning any blade body less than 2.1mm would not secure to the arbour? This is explained and the blade washer shown in a very interesting KZfaq channel I just found "Shane's weekend builds" Shane is German but has started posting some content in English including about his new Laguna Fusion 3. I hope this helps, kind regards Pete

Looks a great saw and thinking about it myself but not impressed with the dust collection.
@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes 3 жыл бұрын
The dust collection requires quite the suction. However, you will find this on most of these saws. Both the Harvey and comparable Grizzly saws have the same "issues". But it can be handled. You will need to fill some gaps. I get by using 2 chip collectors in parallel and one shop vac for the blade guard.

Nearly all table saws are poor at dust collection. Try sealing (masking tape or whatever works) all the gaps and holes in the base -- for instance, the groove that the blade height adjustment wheel travels whild adjusting blade tilt. Interesting to read the challenges each country has with electrical standards, etc.

Does that auto braking come standard with the f3? All of my near accidents have come after the saw was turned off and the blade was still spinning.

I really don’t know if they front it as a feature. But this a standard European version of the F3. But like I said in the video, this may be more of how the motor works than a «feature»....

I just ordered an F3, will report back when I get mine. Surprised no manufacturers have implemented a braking system yet for table/cabinet saws. My Laguna bandsaw has it and it’s priceless.

@@davekelley801 Oh! Nice. Where on the planet are you? They don't say anything about it in the users manual, or even mention it as a feature, which I think is strange. Because it really stops quickly compared to other saws I have seen. On my DeWalt DWE7485 you could literally hear the thing slowing the blade. Wasn't mentioned as a feature on that saw either... By the way, you are going to love the quick change feature for the riving knife. Are you happy with your band saw by the way? I have heard one guy that had tracking issues on the laguna bandsaw.

Hi I just wanted to let you know that Laguna may have sent you an older model power switch, even my F2 has the big red paddle design. I could be wrong, maybe they use a different switch component for the 3HP motors in Europe but even their photos on their site show the big red paddle. Also, the guard I have on mine is a split type. No idea why you got one of the design seen in this video. It's also a little odd that you didn't get a manual. I live in the US and those are 3 red flags (not even mentioning the missing key for the tilt arbor or the non-included riving knife) that you may want to reach out to Laguna one more time. Even on my F2 literally none of these issues, riving knife included, proper switch design with paddle, split design on guard, no missing keys. If your supplier does their own packaging of these saws, maybe all this is their fault? Other than that, congrats on the new saw, it's a great quality tool.
@NomadMakes

Thank you :-) I have also seen pictures of the F2 with a paddle switch. These saws come directly from the factory in their boxes. And I believe that there are regulatory reasons why the riving knife is not standard. Only a few years ago the blade guard were supposed to be screwed on over here. It would be nice to see a better blade guard though. Is your saw a F2? Do you know if they have the same mechanism for changing the riving knife?

I caught myself looking at your switch trying to figure out of there was a keyway or something to add the paddle. Couldn't tell. I think they normally just sit over your off button making it bigger...

The switch is just a normal on/off. You will have to Macgyver something for a paddle switch.

@@NomadMakes one could be added if wanted. In USA a 100v switch is about 20$ US, not sure the price on a 220... Try searching for a magnetic power tool switch. The paddle type would be nice because you can hit it with your knee or whatever other appendage you can swing at it. Most mount in a t slot like thingamabob.

The dust extraction is unfortunately terrible. It's inexcusable on a saw of this price point to have a cheap 1 piece blade guard and such flimsy hose and hose support. At this price point, with a 100% Chinese product, they should have beat even SawStop's dust collection.
@NomadMakes
@NomadMakes Жыл бұрын
I agree with you on the dust collection and blade guard. However, here in Norway this saw is not particularly expensive compared to other similar products, so I cannot comment on that. The saw does have other redeeming features though. Especially the quick change riving knife.

Hi Carlos, I am sorry to hear that have had such a bad experiece with Laguna. I live in Norway, and here we do not have to deal with the producer of a product. We can deal directly with the re-seller/the shop where you buy the product. And the Norwegian importer and seller of these have been absolutely great. I really hope you get the issues sorted. Cheers from Norway.
