Mother and SuperIntendant Debra Freeman blessed us on the organ after a mens day service 7/13/14. This type of playing I grew up on in the Church Of God In Christ. Listen and enjoy!

Nothing beats the sound of a Hammond and a talented player.

I can think of one thing, the sound of a Hammond running through a Leslie, accompanied by a killer bass player, and a spirit filled gospel choir singing praises to Jesus in a bitter sweet minor key. 👍👍👍

Not really 😉 But to be honest, there is other religious inspired music which made me go into churches (not to church though). No expensive Stereo system can ever match the impression of a classical church organ.

I have always wanted to come over to America and spend time in all the soul towns ( is that an expression haha ) like Memphis, etc and I have always wanted to try soul food and go to a few services in your churches and pray to the Lord with you guys. If I wasn't Scottish, I would definitely be proud to be born black. Consider me your brother from another mother. Love from Australia!!!!

Incredible. What amazing feel. I'm just a 22 year old white boy who grew up in a mostly-white baptist church, and as a huge fan of the blues and gospel music, this just cuts directly to my core. Growing up, church was always soooo boring to me, but the coolest parts were always when the organist would play a piece while they pass around the offering plates and stuff. Now, this was a pipe organ so it definitely had a different sound to a B3, but it was always my favorite part of any church service. But this....this is just something else entirely! I would go to church every single day to hear some B3 playing like this!!! Something about that instrument just hits you right in the feelings and conveys emotion so incredibly well. And with playing chops like Mama Debra, you might as well skip the sermon, I just got all that I need by hearing her playing that organ. I am serious, there is nothing that a preacher could say that could make me feel the spirit as much as a Hammond B3 can. Maybe that is blasphemous to say that, but what a great tradition. To any young worship leaders out there who may read this, please please PLEASE don't let this instrument die and disappear from modern churches. Take in that raw emotion and embrace it in your services. It is just next level good.

I may be a Jew (not related to you by any means, unless you are some of my black Jewish brothers and sisters), but I see this woman and am reminded of one of my sweet grandma’s from my Pentecostal church in my hometown. Before I moved west to attend Bible college (I’m majoring in pastoral theology at a Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada Bible College), I had this one woman who made me an honorary grandchild. Harriet plays the organ every Sunday night at Bethel Apostolic, and like this sweet sister when she plays you can definitely feel the anointing. Thanks for posting this video, it was a blessing to me.

Agreed. Christian Rock rubs me the wrong way. There are two types of church music in general that give me goosebumps: they involve either hymnals and 32' pedal stops, or Leslie speakers.

Debra Freeman, that was amazing! I remember back in the late 70's I went to a local church to do a service call for their copy machine. The copier was in their office located upstairs in a little room. It was in the middle of the week and the church organist and choir were practicing for the Sunday service. I have to say that was one of best musical experiences in my younger days(21 at that time), that ill never forget. The building was shakin and the energy was through the roof. I had always liked Gospel music, but nothing beats it when it's live! Thank you Debra Freeman!!!
