a patients loss hurts the doctors financially, lawfully, emotionally, in all ways. I mean, that if a 28 male were to get severely hurt in a car crash, all and any doctors would do everything in their being to save the families receiving the words "i am sorry for your loss". theres no way a death ever benefits a doctor, and after being in school for over a decade they love thier job and the people they save. having to save a life is the best feeling. not only is what you think against the law but also ive never met a fellow doctor who has checked to see if somones a donor before you act for anything to save a life. please, please consider to become a donor, if you value your life so immensly (which you should), think about someone almost dying thinking the same thing, a child, a old family, a newlywed couple, a teen in college, a fresh highschool grad, a kid who just hid their double digits. those are only some of the people you could save out of millions of options. no family, friend, stranger or doctor would let you die without trying. your "statistics" are unfortunate fate and loss, no intention. please be a donor and not only safe mulipule lifes but start them, renew them and give hope.

a single mother losing her only son is just gut wrenching, then dealing with cancer. This woman's bravery and thoughtfulness to share her sons health with others who are suffering is remarkable and when she broke down at his memorial her pain was so real I just burst into hard tears. Organ donation should be a no brainer and to me is an incentive to take care of my body.

I'm an organ donor but I'm poor so I would probably never be offered an organ in return if I needed it . I'm still a donor. But I find it interesting to think about how many people received organs who are not donors themselves. If I die and they can use my organs why wouldn't I let them? They are no use to me. I'm not sure why this mentality isn't shared. Even if I believe no one would help me. Two wrongs don't make a right.

It has alot to do with if medicare/medicaid/private insurance will pay for the anti rejection meds afterwards. They want give it to the best candidate, and if they give it to someone who cant afford 1k or more a month on meds, they have just lost that organ. Same thing that they dont give a liver to a current alcoholic. A alcoholic has to be 6mo free of alcohol.

Wow, the pain Pat mustve endured from the burns and the pain of constriction in his whole body afterwards. Once you burn that deep it feels like youre still on fire for so long and once you finally start healing its like you petrify. The least he deserves is to feel slighlty normal in appearance. I agree with the previous comment, this IS the most beautiful and courageous story. It broke my heart to hear about a mother losing her son, however, it warmed my heart knowing how many people he helped. Although he definitely left this earth to soon, I really get the sense that he is such a gracious person, lived life to the fullest, and then passed it on to others in need.

Proud to be an organ donor . My parents were also, I didn't get to meet the recipients of their organs though.

Tears of happiness on one hand and tears or memories on the other. God bless them and prayers for the surgeon who performed the surgery. This brave mother can see and feel her son in each recipient. God bless them.

This is such a wonderful inspirational story! And I imagine it can be used as a fantastic therapeutic tool for helping anyone in rehab, especially for anyone going through feelings of hopelessness or inadequacy. Also, for anyone that is just simply having a bad day!
