Can you lie on your back after 36 weeks pregnant and if so, for how long? Given you have normal low risk pregnancy.

When should one start with these stretches??

You may introduce these stretches right away. If the stretches do not feel good, stop. Seek guidance from a professional for exercise modification and an evaluation to find the source of your pain.

This is a great question. Exercise and stretching is recommended at all stages of pregnancy. It may just look different depending on how you are feeling. Be careful not overstretch or perform intense workouts during this time. These movements can help baby find the optimal position and reduce your overall muscle tightness. Staying active and utilizing good posture throughout your pregnancy is recommended at any stage and can help you feel your best during your pregnancy, improve labor/delivery, and help with postpartum recovery. It is important to follow the recommendations of your primary doctor if they place you on movement restrictions. If you are on restrictions or are experiencing dizziness, bleeding, muscle weakness, increased swelling and pain and/or preterm labor it is advised to stop the exercise. Listen to your body and do what feels good and doesn't cause pain. Congrats and best wishes!
