In this talk Zoltan will briefly describe a new approach to the understanding of language learning motivation, the ‘L2 Motivational Self System’. He will discuss the practical implications that this new conceptualisation of motivation offers: it opens up a novel avenue for promoting student motivation by increasing the vividness of self-relevant imagery. Finally he will argue that the transformation of language classrooms into learning environments has to begin with the teachers themselves.

Rest in Peace Zoltan Dörnyei. Our university teacher just said that he was one of the peers in the field of motivation in language learning. While I was doing my research, I learned that he just passed away. You will always be remembered for your studies.

Rest In Peace, Professor Zoltan Dörnyei. One of the most brilliant contributors to the understanding of language learning, how to conduct research using quantitative and qualitative approaches, and expand the motivational variables of Gardner's socio-educational model, so many articles, and books that just a smart and passionate scientist could be able to think about them and write them. I think everyone who studies applied linguistics or any other language development field has read his work and has learned a lot thanks to him.

Actually the concept of our brain not using only 5-30...% of its capacity was proved to be a false one. This misconception comes from an unknown scientist, I believe
