Indeed, it is like a modern incarnation of the R80. The only thing I would say is that it's not a light bike and I wouldn't particularly say it was much more manageable than a 1200GS for example.

Great honest review Nathan , I nearly bought the multi coloured 85tt it’s a great looking bike. I then had a test ride on the tiger gt pro and bought it Straight away ! Its a bike that gets better the more you ride it , but mates have Gs s and just got the edge on power , but they are so expensive! Keep the videos coming they are aways good viewing 👍👍

Enjoyed your review and have to agree with what you say. I've had one for 6 months/3,000 miles and it's a good all rounder. It's never going to set your world on fire but it looks good, performs and handles reasonably well and it's good on fuel. The Aprillia mudguard is a must, they are cheap enough, cost about £35 from the local dealer, added a Fender Extender too. Not too keen on the standard seat so I've added a gel pad to mine.

Thanks for another straight forward review Nathan. I have a soft spot for those mainly because it’s Guzzi but also because the choice of mid range shanties is damn near non existent. Probably a bit more pep than my NC750X but I really do wish they’d make something like this but with their big block motor. What a great GT that would be.

Informative and shockingly honest review Nathan. Bravo. Yes on the lack of a front mudguard and running tubes. No and No for me. I really wanted a mid capacity ADV bike with shaft, have owned simple BMW R80 & MG Breva 750 previously. Have ridden V-Strom 650's for the last 13 years, and would buy one again over the V85TT if a replacement was required. I hope Japan build a mid cap ADV bike (they won't) so my best hope is a thoroughly revised 700ish CC Strom (with a few less kg's)

Agree 99.9% with that review Nathan - I went to get my 1200 GSA serviced last month and ended up buying a 2nd hand September 2021registered V85TT (2019 model) as It looked immaculate with only 3000 miles plus add. front mudguard etc. etc.. I had never owned a Guzzi before and thought lets go for it! So far there have been no issues with the bike and its a bike that grows on you rather than the type which you go nuts about when you first see it and then a year later or so you ship it out. I think media hype does that to us - that's another reason I liked your review - you tell it as it is - good for you mate. Anyhow ... to date it has been reliable and has not thrown up any mechanical or electrical issues. I like it because its a simple machine, different from the crowd, and for lack of a better description is very user friendly. Finally my 1200GSA TE is still the best bike in the world never mind Africa Twins or anything else for that matter. I purchased the GS new in 2014 and it will grace my garage for many years to come. Cheers and beers Wm.

I will never buy another new Piagio Guzzi since I was shafted with the Stelvio Cam Issue. Twice, before 12000 miles, the cams went. Guzzi took 6 months each time to send the Cams, charged me for the fitting and oil change on both occasions. I Still have the bike that cost me over £8,000, the cams went again for a third time, it’s sitting with only 12000 on the clock, f@cked cams and rusting away to always remind me: “ Never buy a New Guzzi “. Some Guzzi owners took them to court, but they got around it, because of the way Moto Guzzi export their goods! Cunning, very cunning! I have ridden Guzzi since the 70s, and still own a classic MK2 and MK5 Le Mans.

Thank you sir! I've got 4,000 on mine, and what you say is spot on. It's not a rocket ship by any means, and it gets no trophy for top performance, but it DOES do just about everything a bike like this is supposed to do very, very well. I've loved every single mile. My only two issues are 1. I just found out my heated grips aren't working, and my TFT came pretty loose. Both warranty fixes, and no problem at all. No runs, no drips, and (Johnny Bench talking here) no errors!!! I have realised something. "Gadgets" are not much in the MG compared to the other bikes of the segment with the exception of the Yamaha 900 GT. However, compared to someone coming from a 500cc bike like me (I owned a CB500X latest version), the electronics are way more. Also no matter what I do I feel captivated by MGs design and looks. The other bike I was looking was the Tiger 900GT Pro. Yes more advanced technologically but in the end not a unique bike. And since emotion is actually what riding is all about, at least in my case, this will be my next bike!

The heart of the regret is lumping out a big sum of money on something I've not been able to use as intended, and so it's been a business expense I could have done without. Money no object I'd hang on to it a bit and always it doesn't matter what anyone else says, as long as you love it that's all that matters! But yeah I ought to see about the new map from the dealer. Will give them a bell. Got a Caponord mudguard coming as well.

I admire your honesty. But I must say that during the past 50 Guzzi has been more reliable than BMW. You can hardly startup a 20 year old BMW, but there are 1st gen V7s are still running without any problems. Guzzi haven't received the credit it deserves.
@nathanthepostman

I'm not sure. I know plenty of people running old BMWs. Much will obviously depend on how they're looked after. And I certainly give credit to MG for building the V85TT. It's a good bike. There's not much I'd swap it for, but no bike is without fault and the fault with the V85TT (for me) is a slight lack of power and a few construction and design issues which could be improved.

2019-2020 = rev happy 80hp motor for spirited driving -mainly on tarmac. Keep the revs over 4000, change after 7000rpm when accelerating. In the twisties, use mainly 1-4th gear and don't change to 5th until 120kmh/85mph. 2021---> 76hp torque monster, which is happy to use as a tractor. Ride like you want, change the gears as you want. I think your nitpicks are fixed on 2021---> models. I would like give little hint about how this 2019-2020 motor is designed to be used. It likes revs, many doesn't even switch off the rev limiter, which ruins this bike completely. It should be set to 8000rpm and then this angel sings like it should (first light blinks at 8000rpm and rev limiter is moved to 9000rpm. If you use factory setting, your shift light blinks after 5500rpm and rev limiter kicks in at 6000rpm. This is highly dangerous, because overtaking is a nightmare. For normal riding, keep it about 4000rpm and it doesn't even consume lot of fuel or oil. 3500rpm is absolute minimum. Also, removing the cat and putting a proper fuel map changes this bike completely, if you want it to be more like 2021-model. I like the old 80hp "spirited" motor more, it has a lot of character. :) Second MAJOR issue, what everyone should do, before riding off road, is switch off traction control in the bikes menu completely. It is also highly dangerous to keep on, when off roading. It is super sensitive even in off-road mode and you will get stuck in every challenging situation even if you are good rider. Think about steep, sandy hill with rocks or grass... If you have TC on, you cannot make it. Also, if you have rev-limiter set to 5500rpm, you are wasting your money with V85. Do these two changes and V85 is capable to do whatever you want. For example, I ride it on single tracks, with motocross tyres. You really don't need 21" front wheel to go to forest and no bike with 21" front can keep up with V85 in the twisty roads. Just read the MCM adventure bike shootout. Guzzi has unbeatable riding quality compared to any other ADV in the market, they said. It was THE FASTEST bike on-road, by big margin. And there were bikes with over 100hp.

Yeah Guzzi don't really rev-out, there's not much power past peak. I have seen off a Bentley having a go whilst joining motorway on the V7ii but that was by being in the right i.e. higher gear, to use the torque. Whilst my SUV has nearly 300hp it is a heavy beast unlike a Fiesta, but the V7 is quicker off the mark: it's no crotch rocket but power to weight. I had a Tigger 800 for extended loan. I found I had to rev the thing to find power. After comparing journey times on the same B-road routes I realised the V7ii was putting up a faster pace overall, with half the horses. I think a lot of it is the Guzzi provide a more relaxed and hence more confident ride.
