Having owned a Moto Guzzi for 8 years, I have realised just how nice an engine configuration the longitudinal v-twin is. The Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel is basically a V85TT fitted with a select few accessories from their catalogue, including panniers, heated grips, tall screen, spot lights and phone connectivity, and others.
I was very impressed with the bike, although it wasn't perfect by any means.
This video is my first impressions of the Moto Guzzi V85TT, it is not a full review as you can't do that after just half an hour in the saddle.
I hope you enjoy.

@@HippoDrones I got the yellow/white and red frame one (McDonald's), I think it's a lovely bike when you see it in person, I got the heated grips, engine bars, center stand and a front mud guard fitted as extras. My next purchase will probably be an after market exhaust and maybe a top box. I've came from a triumph speed triple r (2017 model)and sports bikes before that, I thought I'd miss the power but I don't, I just love the character of the v85tt engine and the more I ride it the more I love it.

It is weird as I know lots of Americans who have them, but the dealer network is weak there... it kind of is not great in the UK either, although this dealership was only half hour from home and I have another two around an hour from me in different directions. I have a v7 classic here in the US. If anything, I guess I don’t find it much different than my royal Enfield’s I’ve owned. Dealer networks and mechanics are slim to none so anything I need to buy comes from eBay or Hitchcock’s in the UK. Pretty much have to do all my own wrenching. Great video as always and I am also a Guzzi fan and owner of a V7lll special. The TT looks like a very good bike and I do like the colour. I wonder if the vibes may disappear when it loosens up a bit. If I had room for another bike I would seriously consider this one, the most attractive feature for me being the lower seat height. Keep the vids coming and ride safe, but have fun.

Great first ride. Not a fan of the plain colours. Love the yellow/ white and red paint scheme. Just noticed the exhaust is on the different side compared to most bikes. Buffeting tends to worse be on adventure bikes. Most people reckon taller screens solve it but also lower screens also make a huge difference hence why you don’t get it on sports bike. Also worth checking where the buffeting comes from. A large amount of it on vstroms is caused by the barn door mirrors rather than the screen.

Thanks Freddie, it'd be interesting to see how it compares to the Himalayan! Interesting review. I thought about one of these, but the dreaded seat height got me! The bike of this ilk that I liked was the Yamaha 900GT Tracer. I can put a link here to my (written - I'm old school lol) review of that if you want? Overall it I think it more sporting that the impression I am forming of the V85 from your review. I have also tried a variety of BMW GS models. Essentially go for a water-cooled one if you go that route, Also tried a Multistrada 1200...lovely and really quick, but a different price point. Triumph 800...I liked this a great deal, but have only ridden a 2013 model.

They do a low seat for it, but it isn't much lower TBH. Aye, feel free to bung up your link, am sure folk would be interested to read it :-) A channel I follow has a T7, they really bash it around the outback of Australia and it seems very very capable. The standard height T7 was too tall for me, but I think they do lowering options on it. Another mate has the Multistrada, and has fitted knobbly tyres to it and can ride it harder than I could ever dream of being able to even on my Beta enduro bike... he is a nutter though and hugely talented offroad rider! :-) I tried one of the Triumph Tiger 800 variants a couple of years back, was the low version and had terrible ground clearance. The new 900 Tigers are supposed to be incredible bikes though! :-)

The salesman talked me out of it saying I would think it was underpowered! This is NOT the bike for you. Kinda surprising because you're a V7 owner and you're familiar with Guzzis. You'd be hard pressed to find another adventure bike that fits you based on your body size and type, most adventure bikes are much taller than this. The parts of the bike that you don't like are easily adjusted at a small expense, there's no bike out of the box that fits like a glove. You always have to modify something to make it your own. The Japanese and German competition also have their own corks and advantages, some bikes are better than others depending on what you intent to do with it. There's no motorcycle that can do everything, trust me on this, I have 6 bikes in my garage. Many have complained about the horsepower of the V85TT and its ability for off road use but I don't find it to be terrible or a deal breaker. If you want to cruise at 120mph you need a BMW GS. If you want off road madness then a KTM is the one to go with. However, if you want unconventional styling, character, soul, Italian corks, and uniqueness, the V85TT is the one to have.
@HippoDrones
@HippoDrones 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your insight... I own a V85TT, I bought it soon after making this video, which well was over a year ago. I very much love the bike. I think some people see my comments as hating on things, they are not, very much the opposite, but if we can't be critical, then we can't make informed choices. I have 5 motorcycles currently, and agree, no single bike does all well, some do most to an adequate level, others do individual things very well, but are less adept at many others. All my motorcycles are a compromise, and the V85TT is very much a do all things bike, it just doesn't shine at all things.
