My First ride on my new Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer. Picking it up from the dealership at 2km on the odometer. My thoughts as I ride it to work then to home on how I like it and why I chose it. KM 2 - 50.2. Take a look at some of my past episodes to see the bikes I'm referencing as comparisons. Subscribe to follow my future posts, I have a lot of riding to do on my V9.

Gorgeous bike sounds fantastic. I want a v9, probably the bobber. I teat rode the roamer it's an amazing machine, stunning to look at, especially in that color.

Thank you. I liked the bobber also but I couldn't justify the price difference for so little difference.

@@wingsonbikes4351 here in the states you can get both around 6000$ brand new as carry over models now. Way underated machine just because of limited dealerships here in the states. Best bikes I've ever rode though were Moto Guzzi for sure.

Hi there.Thank you for sharing your early experience. I bought one myself over a year ago (2016-17 model) and love mine. Your bike seems to be the same model - which has since been updated. The upside is styling and character. Downside: seat is firm and I therefore updated it with a softer later model seat. Also, being tall, the legs tend to get close to the air intakes and it does get very hot after a while - kevlar jeans help and splaying my knees a little - but I like the foot position generally so I don't want the aftermarket aft peg alteration that can be fitted or as it was positioned in the later model. A great deal of fun. It's not really a long haul vehicle in my opinion but for an hour or two ride at a time - its lovely. Many seem to want to put aftermarket mufflers on it such as Mistrals or Agostinis, but I just love the stock sound. A downside is that the price of Motoguzzi accessories are very dear eg saddle bags or screens. So other brands are the go for these things. Cheers

I guess from your accent and you are riding on the right, that you are in the USA? I am surprised your speedo and odometer are in metric. I have just bought a new V9, in England, and the speedo is MPH and odometer in miles. The one thing I don't like about the bike is that the speedo and digital readout are virtually invisible. I can only tell what speed I am doing is by knowing where the red needle should be on the dial, and by keeping pace with the other traffic. At night the speedo lights up in a sort of red colour and goes completely illegible. It is OK if the sun shines directly on it, bizarrely. The numerals and letters on the digital readout are too thin to be legible which annoys me. They could have doubled the thickness of the lines forming the characters, and made it a lot better. I have done 35 miles after the 'low fuel' warning, so the lack of a fuel gauge isn't bad, though I would prefer one. If I had bought a V7 I would have got the one with the two dials. One important thing to know if you have a new V9 and want to buy a Givi rear carrier, if you buy what seems to be the only one available, it is advertised as fitting a V9, 2016 model. It fits the frame but then you cannot refit the seat. They seem to have lengthened the seat for the newer models. I made some brackets and fitted the carrier about 2 inches further to the rear. The seat now fits, but the downside is that in effect the carrier is only held on to the frame by half the number of nuts and bolts that it was designed to. I think it is OK though, I can shake the bike round by forcibly shaking the carrier. You don't really need a rev counter if you can read the gear number because as you reach the higher revs and it is time to change up, a red LED flashes quickly on the speedo. I don't know what revs that happens at, but it doesn't seem to me to be anywhere near the upper limit, I think it is just a warning light. I am glad you think that at 200kg, the bike is light. For me, a 68 yr old weakling it is just about manageable but I wouldn't like to have to lift it up if it fell over! I wish it had a centre stand - but hey, it doesn't have a chain to lubricate so perhaps I don't really need one! Putting the side stand down while you are sitting on it, must be something to learn. The foot rest gets in the way. I'll have to find out what the technique is. I have fitted an after market DART fly screen because of the wind drag at 60mph and above. I think the Dart is made in the USA and I must say I was extremely well pleased with the quality of it. It cost just over one third of the genuine MG item and I am sure it is at least as well made, if not better. If you get one you will not be disappointed in any way. One thing about the V9 that I found a surprise, and a pleasing thing was that when the fuel gets low, the digital readout changes to show you how many miles you have left in the tank. I didn't carry on and check its accuracy though! I have had literally hundreds of bikes since I passed my test in 1966, and I really like this one, I think it is a keeper. Anyway I'm getting a bit old to continually change bikes. I also have a Sym 278cc scooter, ( they call it a 300 which is a blatant lie) which of course is totally different. I will keep that one for when I can't ride the Guzzi any more. The scooter is of course an 'automatic' with no gears but it very happily does all the legal speed limits in the UK, and has excellent wind and weather protection and seems to be very well made, I haven't seen any poor quality on it anywhere.

I am in Canada actually, we are metric and right side driving. I dont notice any difficulty seeing my gauges it may be they put less effort into the imperial gauges than the metric. Most of their sales are Europe and India. Thanks for the input, I'd love to see some pics of the carrier and modifications you did. I hope to jave some more video soon. Its a bit of a deep freeze right now though but in a few months I'll be back on the road.

Sorry about confusing your accent! Over this side of the pond we can't tell the difference but it's nice to learn something:). I don't know how to show photos of my carrier, except to put a stupidly amateur video on youtube! I have a MacBook Pro and haven't yet managed to do a proper video to post, though I would like to. I have some separate clips but I haven't found out how to edit them and clip out the bits I don't want. Perhaps I'll do a quick one-shot video of my V9 and post it. Maybe not tomorrow though as mother in law is gravely ill and we need to go and see her. @@wingsonbikes4351

@@gasgas2689 Those of us in the U.S. can't tell a Canadian accent from a U.S. one either. One difference I've noticed is that Canadians sometimes pronounce the S with a Z sound. For example, they say 'rezources" instead of "resources". They say "aboot" instead of "about" but I think some in the northern U.S. do that too.

Unfortunately Moto Guzzi isn't consistant between models as far as locking gas cap or style of controls but at lleast getting a locking cap is as easy as going to your local dealer and buying one for California or MGX21 or, oh yeah that "local dealer" is pretty funny huh? ? /

I am looking into buying a used 2017 Roamer. I was worried about heat from the 90 cylinders?

There is a fair amount of heat off of them. There is also some shields there to keep your knees from hitting them. I've never had an issue burning myself on them i have found them handy to warm up my wet gloves.

I haven’t ridden in years (had an 86 VFR750), I am thinking about picking up a Himalayan next month after getting my M endorsement (since it is a dual sport and I want one and love the style), then as soon as it is paid off (4-7 months) I want either a V9 or a Griso.... are you still enamored with the V9? Have you ridden a Griso?
@wingsonbikes4351

I've not ridden a griso. I still love my v9. I'll be taking it on a road trip in a few months. Hopefully I'll have some good footage for you.

I have a Griso that's been fully GuzziTech'ed by Todd, and it is a TERRIFIC bike. It is by far he sportiest bike Guzzi has ever made. Gobs of power and torque. It also handles itself very well in the Twisties. It does have one fatal flaw (for me). Very limited range. It is comfortable enough, it is fast enough and handles well enough...but you will need a fuel station every 140-150 miles. You can eek out more if you really go easy. If you like the Griso and want range the Stelvio may be right for you. I just don't like the looks personally. I'm now trying to decide what my new ride will be this spring...Audace, V9 Bobber Sport, or v7 racer... At the price of used racers these days I may get the Bobber and Racer for the price of the Audace! Long post short...Guzzi is the only bike for me. Riding a guzzi is like driving a BMW E30 vs modern cars. Slower? Yup. Less tech? Yup. A more engaged and joyful experience? Absolutely!

Are there any differences between the 2016-2020 v9's?

I honestly couldn't say. It seems to me that they were all the same but i'm not a guzzi expert. I have mine and in ride it and in love it but that's all I know. Sorry.

the greater difference is with 2021 model: more HP of the motor, shape of seat, instrument, lights, and dashboard are digital. Instead between 2016 and 2020 they changed the position of footrests getting more clearance and a little bit more sporty position, especially when you drive curves in low speed (crossroad for example). sorry for my English.
