That’s how they teach throttle grip at Motor School. Primarily because that position ensures the throttle closes completely during emergency braking and secondarily it helps with throttle control at tight and low speed maneuvering.

Hey Fast Eddie man! I just simply place hand on the throttle, with 2-4 fingers being able to pull the front brake. Using the padding of my gloves to get the grip and I pull back on the throttle and my fingertips are basically resting on top of the front brake lever. This way when I have to grab my front brake, I just roll off the throttle and my fingers naturally wrap the front brake lever allowing me to pull in the front brake lever. I learned that from you by the way Greg. From one of your older videos. Ride safe everyone.

Depends on what I am doing, for me. If at the dragstrip, I hamfist it to get full throttle and a good hold on the bars for a hard launch. If canyon carving, I hold only my fingertips on the throttle to make is easier to hold a good, solid, and smooth throttle. No need to cover front brakes, in the corners, as it will stand the bike up and not corner, if used. Drag the rear and "back it in" if need to slow a little. This has always worked for me.

Wrist worm is kind of dangerous tbh. Sometimes you might lose the grip and completely chop the throttle which might make your bike hard to control. I usually use my middle two fingers and thumb to always be in grip with the throttle and then I use my pointing finger to use the front brake. works good enough for me. A lot of new riders completely just dump their throttles in stress situations so its a habit to learn. Also, its much smoother riding experience on your body if you practice your roll offs properly

This is really useful as I've been riding for three years but only 125ccs, and only last month got a 700 so the throttle has become much more important XD I have noticed though that keeping your hand still and dropping your wrist right down does encourage you to lean forward when accelerating hard to balance the bike which isn't awful but I'll certainly try this technique tomorrow. Thanks!
@alexserafini5205
@alexserafini5205 2 жыл бұрын
The main reason this is a bad idea (bent wrist with throttle open) is that it increases the distance from your hand to the brake lever, this reduces your reaction time but even worse: it allows for more acceleration of your hand so that when you grab the brake in an emergency, there is far too much pressure and you risk the front wheel locking or flying forward over the bars (surprise stoppie)

I have to do this on my '21 MT09SP as the rotation required to get wide open throttle (not that I use WOT much) looks similar to this MT07. Main downside is if you just roll off normally to closed throttle position it's harder to quickly get to the brake, so just have to remember to let the grip slip through the palm back to closed throttle. I feel the other techniques to get WOT shown in the video don't really work for me as the acceleration is so strong that it's difficult to maintain dexterity without full hand contact with the grip.

I like to turn my hand counter clockwise a little bit so I have the right-rear of my palm very close to, if not on, the bar end. Hold the throttle like and ice cream cone so your wrist/forearm is doing the twisting and not so much your whole arm/shoulder. As people have said before it’s like turning a doorknob or a screwdriver, or using a knife. Allows for more comfortable/smoother throttle control. Once I started riding like this it feels unnatural to go back.

I always pre roll forward though my fire blade doesn’t ever require a full roll

It would take more control but would a quick turn throttle tube help counter this somewhat??

I've never used full throttle in any bike i have ridden. Max I can rotate is the speed i can control in any bike. I keep this measure since i started riding bikes at 16. Eighteen years later never had an accident related to speed or loose control.

obviously not...you can watch and memorize all my videos and it won't make you one second better on the bike. Need to take a course on the bike with people who can give you feedback.
