Continuing on with motorcycle maintenance 2024! Time to get that stuck oil filter off and change the clutch plates. This video is a great example of how things can go in a different direction to your plans. The key is how you react to that and deal with it!

This is why the strap type tools are so good. They're like stlsons and grab on tighter the the more force you give it and basically any oil filter.

BEst oil filter tool I've ever used was one my dad has had for ~40 years, it looks like a 1/2" socket adapter with a webbing strap looped through it - works on the same tightening principle as a ratchet strap does so you just wind it round on itself to take up the slack then grunt at it with a breaker bar.

Thanks but they are not bloopers, it is the truth! There are far too many people out there giving bad advise and trying to hide problems to look better. Ironey being people who know what they are doing know things can will and do go wrong. 🙂

I've gotten so cross with myself in the past spannering and doing stuff wrong... most notabel was very costly and delayed getting my bike running around 2 months as I broke the fuel pump which cost £500 and had to be sourced from Italy in their summer, where they basically don't work LOL, fun and games 😀

I really felt for you when i watched you put the oil in first time 😢, great show of perseverance buddy. Sorry but had to laugh at the "dipstick" incident 😂, whoever named it dipstick just knew didnt they...😅

I didn’t think the 3D printed tool would do the job of undoing the oil filter. Definitely torquing it on. Will you at the same time check the spark plugs Spicy? Are you game? Great job. People laugh at me reading workshop manuals in the toilet😎

Just whack a long screwdriver through the filter to rotate it crack the seal. I heard that the friction material is actually cork!

Clearly, I know of this age-old method, it's not a great idea and really there is no need with the right tools.

with dog hair too. burnt a clutch few year ago smells like my dog when it sleeps in the fire

I cannot see why you must drain the oil when working on the clutch. The oil level is way below the lowest part of the clutch cover. You can easily verify this with the dipstick or the oil level check window.

When you do a clutch next just don't drain the oil and see for your self haha

On my gsxs750 literally no fuss and plates just went in with no issues no needing to see if any were different

Was that a newer 750 with a slipper clutch?

@spicy110 yeah didn't have Any clips like yours. The first plate did sit off centre but that's it then it's build the stack. Only thing with the gsxs it's got clutch worm built in beside the front sprocket casing and it gets bunged up so much to the point where it causes the clutch to slip.
