Good bike... only thing to watch out for is not to break the small chain that drives the starting motor to the crankshaft. Had to repair this once on one of these and the engine needs to be opened from bottom on to replace that little chain.

Hi . Have you ever changed the timing chain . I have been offered one of these bikes for a small amount of money and its timing chain has a slight rattle.

Excellent video.. I added a 1991 CBR1000F to my collection last year. It has 23k miles, and is in the so called ‘Benetton’ colours, pink, black, turquoise and all original.. I always wanted one back in the early 90s, so finding this one in superb condition was a scratch itched 😁

Decent. I have a 91 FL in the shed with 85k on the clock, proper good motors with more torque than a politician at election time😅

Thanks for your support mate 🙂 the feedback does help me and i do appreciate it. I think it will end up being a Bargain of the month each month for 2024. Im not promising theyll all be classics, but you know from the channel older bikes are my thing, so you can expect a few at least 🙂

That left hand mirror bracket is buckled so it is worth to have the guy remove the left fairing and point a light in there for additional frame or engine case damage. Otherwise a bargain. There will be costs! Once you acquire it for this price, replace all the fluids and filters, coolant hoses while you're at it and order a set of wheel bearings and chain sprockets set and just clean up on maintenance and it will be a reliable work horse for a long time

Mirror just needs to be adjusted to the correct postion. The rubber boot will correct itself. Great bikes.

Good format, seen some very good value VFR800Fi (pre vtecs) for sale recently. I prefer older bikes, had an ST1100, BMW K75 more recently, great older bikes/useable modern classics...

Pretty cool for the price. Many faired bikes of that era are missing parts. Some parts will be a challenge to find due to it's age and rarity. Hartgate MC can probably help.

@@upsidedowndog1256sintered metal printers, 3D laser scanning, CNC machining. Laser and water cutting . It's a lot easier than what it used to be. Strange electrical connector, 3d laser scan and print. Funny clutch housing, 3D scan and sintered metal print or CNC machine. Sprockets, CAD and water or laser cut. Look on KZfaq what can be done these days. You will be surprised.

Very reliable bikes these and they will do mega mileage if looked after. Mine has 77500 miles and runs good.

yep, there is a whole article on the website about recommissioning old bikes, and one about carbs too lol. Brake pads are pretty stable these days as long as theyve got enough meat on. but yep, tyres is obvious depending how long its been stored and if the tyres have had weight on them. Even tyres is a complicated subject though. I remember talking to a guy who just knew tyres like no one i had ever met talking for hours about heat cycles and compound degradation with UV and more that i could never remember. lol

Had a '91 L in red and black, couldn't fault the bike, turbine smooth engine, my only criticism was it lacked character.

I get what you are saying, but although it might lack some of the character of its contemporaries, i would say its got more character than many newer bikes, have a good un mate

i think in many ways if you arent thinking new it is a buyers market, prices in general seem down, these are a great bike and a good one will last well i think

soggy, lardy, capable, excellent in wet totally dependable too fast for both the brakes and spaghetti and worth more post totalling. Inflation post squash. Oh yeah, the vibes thru bars.....

I love your streams . I had a Blackbird and now you have made me think . I know where there is one of these for only 1200 euro . Its got a slight timing chain rattle . Do you know just how difficult it is to change this. Happy Christmas to all 🎄🎄🎄🎄

This is a fun format for videos. I'm wondering if you think it would be a good idea to pick random cities around the world to look for the "Motorcycle Of The Month"? (maybe that was already your intention?) Perhaps that would help expand the reach and/or viewership with a city name in the title. (I don't know, just spitballing here). Maybe the next video could be in...oh...I don't know.....Ottawa Canada? lol Mind you, winter doesn't offer the greatest selection in cold areas. Cheers, brother!

I have thought about it and may do some, i can keep an eye on the European market easy enough, but with Canada, The US and Australia, they are all so big it would have to be regional in some way :-) We shall see how it pans out long term, give me some web marketplaces for Canada if you would :-)

@@barebonesmc Of course, Kijiji is popular in Canada and Craigslist more so in the states. I just did a Canada wide search and pickings are indeed slim but southern cities in the US surely have more inventory. Either way these videos will be fun to watch with your added perspective etc. If I ever see low priced, somewhat iconic 70s, 80s and early 90s sport bike adds I'll forward it to you via your comment section.

I have to disagree, and especially with the CB1000F. They arent highly tuned at all and the engine will last. 45K is not a lot fer that engine at all 🙂Cheers for watching and for the comment mate. Ride Free 🙂

Thats nothing for one of these mine has 77500miles and i know of some on fb groups with 200k, 380k and the highest i know of 500k with original never rebuilt engine there over engineered and not stressed regular oil and filter change most bikes will do unbelievable mileages.

yeah that's what someone else told me, my comment was geared more towards liter bikes in general but also we are talking about a 30 or so year old bike, as a rule older bikes with low mileage tend to have more original deteriorated parts that need to be replaced however, admittedly i don't have any experience with the cb1000f specifically and at present i am pretty disgusted with honda......@@barebonesmc

@@abruptlyblunt go on then, tell us about your Honda nightmare, I know they happen, theyve had their share of recalls over recent years, The CB1000F was made during their hey day though, its a solid stable bike
