Don’t go off-roading if you’re a new rider. Practice parking lot maneuvers once a week. On steep downhill roads, walk the bike to the direction you want to travel then sit on the saddle. Otherwise, use your rear and front brakes when going downhill.

5’1 100lbs.. beginner rider with a new 22’ z400. Having to learn tricks on how to walk my bike and so for leaning it on my side has been the most officiant way. Tried duck walking it and dropped it haha. I was scared I was to short for my bike but after watching a bunch of different KZfaqrs that are short and my size I’ve gained a lot of confidence. You just have to trust your bike and know what to do and what not to do especially when your like me with no upper body strength

@x-man5056
@x-man5056 10 ай бұрын
@@Adrian-py7go To get your license there is no weight to height requirement that I know of. It's about ability to ride safely and within the rules of the road. In my state, NV, if you take the MSF course and pass, you forego all the state DMV testing which here, is pretty difficult form what I've been told. Plus you get a small discount on insurance. If you have a concern about your strength, you can work on that, but if you can ride it with adequate proficiently, that's all the state is worried about. Except for their $$$ and proof of insurance of course.

You’re absolutely right. It’s all about practice and skill. I have a 30” inseam and my bikes have 34” and 32” seat heights. One is a Concours (650 lbs and top heavy). No problem. At a stop with a foot on the rear brake and one on the ground, you have greater control over the bike than if you had both feet flat on the ground.

Great confidence builder video!!! It's not only your height but how heavy the motorcycle is. I'm 5'2" and finally graduated from the fear of riding my Yamaha XT250 which has been lowered an inch!!! I bought a Honda 80cc dirt bike just to get comfortable with the Yam. Well, I did it, I rode the Yam for the first time yesterday and then this morning I took it out on a sleepy road, went thru all the gears and got up to 53 mph. I'm now very much looking forward to the MSF course in 3 weeks.

Very helpful and a great tip for a newbie like me. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm 5'5" and always wondered if ever I'll have the time to conquer that fear of riding a big bike sometime in the future. By focusing on these tip and tricks I will certainly use them for practice in my Kawasaki 175 cc for now and hopefully progress from there. In the Philippines, for a bike to become highway legal, one must drive a minimum of 400 cc bike. I hope to own one day. More power to your channel. Subscription added.

It's all about riding regularly, practicing your mount /dismount and manuevering. Personally, I mount and dismount taller bikes using the foot peg on the low side (the side the bike is leaning towards). A couple of tips: put the little kick stand bases (bigger footprint for better stability) on your bikes and leave the bike in 1st gear for mounting/dismounting.

A very nice video, I enjoyed it! I'm 154 cm, 46 kg (which is maybe 5'05). I made 40 000+ km on my KTM Duke 390 and wanted to switch to a new bike. My problem turned out to be the weight - I just couldn't get upright most of the bikes I tried from the side stand when sitting on them. Until I found my Honda NC750S - the seat height is 79 cm and I'm on my tip toes only BUT the center of gravity is really very down low. I really have no problems riding it, it's only when I'm parking that I'm dismounting my bike and pushing it around. I think my next challenge will be learning to get a bike upright from the side stand while standing next to it and then hopping on it and riding away... we'll see. Cheers, Will! Enjoy your rides! Julia

@@bruisedsponge439 I am flat footed if I only put one foot down man just need practice getting used to. With your 32” inseam, I don’t think you will have lot of problem. All I can say is go to a dealership and seat on bikes that interests you.

Hello. Beginner rider here. Just like you, I'm also about 5'6 with a 30 inseam and about to buy my first bike. For now, the one I'm interested is getting is a 250cc naked bike. I really love the style, and yes the only downside is...the seat height is 33 inches. The upside is it weighs less than 300lbs, so hopefully that's a plus as far as trying to balance it. Also, on your video you said that the right foot should always be on the brake and the left for flat footing. In my case, my right is my dominant foot. I feel more comfortable when my right foot is on the ground rather than the left. This learning from riding bicycles and lately, still trying to learn on how to ride an electric unicycle, I always rest on my right. Anyways, thanks for posting the video.

It help as both a lot. One of the questions I have is what about how to handle the bike up or donw bridges. Or when you come to that one place on the road that's got that little hill but you have have to be on it to enter the other lane like your right lane. With car in back of you what is your advice for new riders like mybwife and I. And yes am on episode 3 lol thanks in advance.

My tip: Never plant your foot on unlevel ground. The shorter you are, the more the bike tips and the heavier it becomes. BTW, I ride a 33" bike with a 29" inseam with no problems. I use your exact method: slide left, left foot down, right foot on the brake.

Really enjoyed your videos. Thanks. I am new to riding. Just got my first bike, the KTM 390 Adventure. I am 5' 7", with inseam of about 30 inches. Your tips on moving the butt left and right and with the right foot always on the foot brake are fabulous. One question, when coming to a stop, how do I ensure the bike would tip to the left side so that I could use my left foot to support it. Many thanks. Best, Rob.

@PetroHead 2 жыл бұрын
Move butt to the left and let it lean a bit to the left and keep your right foot on rear break. Your bike always leans a little to the left when your sitting / stopping at lights.. there will come a time when you won’t think about it anymore.

I think the most challenge for rider who tip-toe are in two situation, 1. When you need to stop in very slope road, like stop at traffi light or when go up hill but traffi jam no way out need to stop, one leg might not enough power to support when you are not fully flat foot and if with pillion then more heavy. 2. When your pillion going up and coming down from the bike, the weight suddenly fall on one side, rider one leg might unable or do not expect how much weight suddenly incresing, might falling down due to too heavy loaded on one side.. Those situation happen once a while with me before, so that i still don't prefer rider with with tip-toe too much, if half tip-top is the limit for me..do lowering is prefered if not confidence enough.

The first person to finally recognise that stride length is important. Very good! I have one question: What do you do if you have to slow down and stop on a bend? For example, in the middle of a junction when turning? You can't straighten the handlebars at that moment 🤔

Couple of weeks ago I bought a 2020 Africa Twin. I'm a 32" inseam, the bike at its shortest, with the lower seat in the lowest position, is about 33.5", so I'm either balls of my feet either side or doing the left foot thing as you describe. First time out though, disaster: my garage is on a hill, with very degraded asphalt, essentially almost gravel, leading down to a narrow close (dead end residential street) with many parked cars. I didn't left foot it. This is a DCT bike, so no clutch. In Drive, when the revs get above a certain level, the clutch bites and you have power. Under it, the clutch disengages & you have none. I'd thought that you could ride the clutch by using throttle control but when I did that it went on-off on-off chunk-a-chunk-a and I panicked & grabbed for the nonexistent clutch, realised it didn't exist, panicked worse & because my foot wasn't on the brake grabbed the front brake. Heavy bike to lift, really. So. Next time, left foot, right foot on brake, set gas, ease off brake, off gas, brake back on, left foot.
