Yamaha Tenere 700:
The Yamaha Ténéré 700 is a midsize adventure/dual-sport motorcycle manufactured by Yamaha since 2019. It features a 689 cc (42.0 cu in) parallel-twin engine which powers the motorcycle through a six-speed gearbox and chain drive. Brakes are equipped with rider-switchable (on-off) ABS. The "baby Ténéré" is the latest in a series of dual-sport Yamaha motorcycles named after the Ténéré desert stage of the Dakar Rally in the Sahara. The successor to Yamaha's XT660Z Ténéré was first announced as the T7 concept at the 2016 EICMA with an anticipated production launch in 2018. A refined concept was publicized a year later.
Yamaha announced that delivery of bikes would begin in Europe in July 2019, and only the following year to the USA due to emissions and other regulatory delays. The liquid-cooled 4-stroke 8-valve DOHC engine with crossplane crankshaft was already in use and well reviewed in Yamaha's MT-07 naked and Tracer 700 sport touring bikes.
Honda CRF300L:
Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great-like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.
Hello my name is Andrew, My family and I love powersports. Just something about the feel of freedom and power you get from a bike or ATV. On this channel you will find content for the Honda 300L as well as our journey we take together in the world of power sports.

Good job describing the difference between the to types of bikes. I have to agree with you. I have a Honda NC700X that I have used as a adventure bike but I cant lift it when I drop it because I have back problems and I am 71 years old. So now the Honda CRF300L Rally is my Adv bike and I may sell the 700.

The exhaust routing and muffler position is the tell tale for a road orientated bike, dual sports look more off-road capable but generally have suspension tuned more for the road. Personally, and probably obvious from my previous comments, I’m firmly in the road legal dirt bike camp.

I haven't ridden bikes for around 35 years, and as I live in a rural area in South Africa I bought a small 150 echo tr. Which is a trail version of a road bike. Not quite a Duel sport but loving it most of my riding is 50/50 dirt roads and tar with a few single track hooligan rides. Being 60 (my late-midlife crisis after surviving a bout of cancer) I thought I would get cheap just incase I didnt get back into it. The bug has bitten, now I would love to get something a little bigger once the budget allows. But for now I am loving my little "duel sport" and would definitely go for a true duel sport next time.

DRZ 400S owner here. I've been evaluating my primary form of riding recently. I have cancelled my plan to buy a T7. This is partly because I don't need three bikes, plus I prefer off-highway riding, which the DRZ will do quite well for the type of riding I do. It has served me well since I bought it in 2006. For higher elevations (Colorado riding) and more fun on trails, I have a KTM 450 EXC-F.

That's a great point, I have people in my ear telling me not to get a dualsport because it's "too dirt bike", "buy a bmw gs" and I truly feel the crf300L fits the bill for me perfectly, infact, I ordered a crf300L and im playing the waiting game, sure, I'd enjoy a GS, but I don't plan to travel much on it, I plan to pretty much stay offroad and commute to work that's 3 miles from my house. Also too, this isn't my first dual sport by any means, the last was a ktm 350 exc-f and it worked great for my needs, which is primarily, fun. Excellent work on the video btw 🤘

@@MotorcyclesOffroad yes, they do - it is called 701 LR (Long Range). But even the standard one is capable of 250-280km on one tank, so for European riders it is more than enough, as there is a petrol station every other corner here. And it is lighter (actually, 2kg lighter than my 250 Rally).

Luv my Rally! And now with Tusk Dsport tires, that in my opinion work great both off road as they do on road on this light weight bike, it’s the perfect bike for me... I don’t mind a little humming noise coming from my tires, and the cost of these tires is so inexpensive compared to other tires that are not quite as versatile, I don’t mind spending $130 for a new set when the time comes. Even though I wish this bike was slightly lighter considering it’s power output, I consider the Rally to be more of a dual sport than I do an adventure bike. A dual sport with a little bit more comfort on the road compared to most of the other dual sports in its class. I can see the suspension, exhaust, and fuel mapping, all getting modified in the future, but for right now I’ll ride it like it is until I can afford those things. I’m not racing anyone, but I can definitely go ANYWHERE in the world on it, right now the way that it is, that I might want to go.

It really depends on The Adventure. There are quite a few people who used little CRF to go RTW and that bike proved to be a good tool for that. Itchy Boots is travelling now from Colombia to Alaska on 300 Rally. And I used 250 Rally for a two week long ride in Kyrgyzstan. So I believe the 250/300 Rally could be a decent adventure bike. The way I define an adventure bike is such: Does it have a fairing, that when dropped will most likely break? Adventure bike Does it have dirt bike style plastics that are very resistant to breaking on drops? Dual sport. KLR650 is an adventure bike, CRF300L is a dual sport but the Rally version is an adventure bike, the DR650 is a dual sport.

Depends on time in the saddle. Dual sports suck on the highway or any trip over 60 miles on the pavement. And adventure bikes suck in the dirt, compared to a dual sport. Where you ride the most, and is the more important aspect of your riding, controls. I ride a dual sport and dont ride it unless it is to the dirt and back. I accept that limitation as dirt is more important to me..just saving trucking the bike to the woods. If i wanted to take weekend trips, carry a passenger, or luggage I would have to live with an Adv. bike. Which is basically what you said. Good job!
@beardannyboy
@beardannyboy Ай бұрын
I wouldn't really consider the 300l Rally to be an ADV bike, it's still very much a dual sport, just with a few extra concessions for long-distance road rides than a typical dual sport. I think that "bikes that I could use for adventure rides" are different from "adventure bikes". You could put bags and a larger fuel tank onto an enduro bike and take it on an adventure, but it's not an adventure bike. You're right that weight alone isn't the determining factor either. Bikes like the DR650 & KLR650 are big and heavy, but they're still super-sized dual sports, not adventure bikes. Personally I like to think about the "genealogy" of bikes when thinking about the categories. The adventure bike category evolved out of the sport touring category, not the dual-sport category. The Versys 650 is a budget, mid-sized sport touring bike, but if you put a bigger front tire, better suspension and ground clearance on it, ta-da, it's an adventure bike. So to me an "adventure bike" is a sport touring bike with a few extra design concessions for off-roading. These dual-sports with extra concessions for the road like the 300l Rally and KLR 650 are trying to attack a similar problem from a different direction, so I feel like they are their own thing that is still much closer to the traditional dual sport.

@MotorcyclesOffroad

It is great for that but it is a hard bike to manage for a lot of people. I would say the best bike for what you are describing would be a DR650 it does both well and has a ton of torque, if you find yourself missing 6th gear add one tooth to the front sprocket and it will be far better then the 250L on the road/highway and only weight 10% more when it is full of the 3gallon gas tank. For the 10% you get 2x the horsepower and about 2.5x the torque as well as the same seat height on both bikes.

@@888jimmy well fuel injection is nice not having to warm up you bike ever. But the really thing is do you have great changes in elevation. For example 5000 ft above sea level to 10000. If so because of lack of air the bike can run more lean at great changes in elevation.
