Ford trucks will NEVER be the same... Over the course of 2023 Ford Truck F150 when up in price and thousands of trucks were just sitting on lots not selling due to a 30% increase in MSRP over just 2 years. So you would thing that Ford would keep prices the same for the 2024 model so they could at least start selling trucks again. Well that ship has totally sailed and the F150 has been forever changed. It's no longer a vehicle for the middle class and is now at luxury prices. With the 2024 refresh Ford has gone even more insane raising the MSRP of the Base F150 almost $3,000 with the higher trim levels following that trend as well.
Now that the 2024 models have been revealed... I wanted to see if there were any deals to be had on the outgoing 2023 models that were wasting away on Ford lots
And what I found completely left me in shock....

I’m in Arkansas and Ford and GM have over 200 trucks in this HUGE Freightliner semi truck parking lot. They are just lined up to the max. I asked a worker and he said that the trucks have been sitting their for month. It’s a storage spot and they get paid to hold the trucks there. These companies are so stupid. DROP THE PRICE and just sell the damn TRUCKS. They’ll pay to have them sit in a storage area instead of selling them. Makes NO SENSE AT ALL.

I have been a Ford buyer since 1989 and I must say that Ford has lost it's way. The pricing for Ford vehicle's and everyone for that matter has become absolutely ridiculous. Vehicle prices that are now more than what I paid for my home? I honestly do not know how anyone can afford a monthly truck payment and keep a roof over your head, food in the kitchen, utilities, insurance, ....Oh, and all with less money than what you would have been making in the 1980's and 1990's.

These automanufactures an workers will eventually put their selfs out of business an jobs. Ford an the rest of the pickup manufacturers have no reason to make these trucks cheaper because their protected by the Chicken tax put on foreign Pick Ups from over seas , any pick built overseas is charged this tax so they can't sell cheap Pickups here. That's why they build alot of them here to avoid that tax, yet they are still getting overpriced to.

So I hit the internet and found a 1985 F-250HD 4x4 extended cab 100% rust free with the 460 big block 130k original miles 4-speed for 5 grand i definitely don't regret passing on a new over priced full of issue's new truck that im not even able to work on when needed. A truck that will never last 38 years like the 85 i just purchased. For the money I saved, the old 85 can be fully rebuilt 10 times over. Ford, GM, and Ram can go belly up for all I care they went from building affordable vehicle's for the public to building vehicles for the elite. They for got who it was that made thim the companies they have become. Working-class Americans built their companies. If it wasn't for us, they would not exist, and now that they have turned their backs on us, they can sink. The practice of adding $5000 to $10000 to an already high MSRP has soured me on buying a new car. The dealer is the worst place to buy a car, I’ve always felt that their main goal is to get as much money out of you as possible and that practice of adding to the MSRP shows their greed. If I had ordered a new car on an already agreed upon price and when it came in they wanted an additional $10000.00 I would have been pretty pissed off. We should be able to order directly from the manufacturer and have the car delivered to you when completed . Like the way you buy a washer or any other major appliance, no markups.

It is every company that wants to get the most money out of you as possible. That is called capitalism. June 26, 2023, I bought a new Nissan Titan Pro 4X that stickered at $61660 and they gave me a $7,000 discount and financed it at 0%. It's loaded with everything I could have wanted and is a beautiful truck. My last two trucks were Fords but I am really happy with my Nissan Titan with the comfort, power, looks, and quiet and comfortable ride. It's not as good on gas as an ecoboost and it does recommend premium fuel but that is as close as I can come to criticizing it. I'm retired and don't drive that many miles so the fuel economy doesn't concern me.

$40k is what the F-150 Lightning was first advertised at selling at in 2022. Ford has been doing flat prices raises on everything from $1k to $20k over a yr and plan to do more increases in 2024, this rate will price out every buyer.

Truck sales are always high in the last quarter especially in December due to businesses needing tax write offs. As long as the vehicle is 6000 lb gvwr or more you can sometimes take a 100% deduction off the top of your income in the first year without having to depreciated it annually. Then years later when you sell it you only get taxed on the sale price of the vehicle (of course much less than the sticker was when you bought it). If you trade it in then it rolls into that years deduction. The tax deduction not only saves you the money on taxes when sold but the initial write off can bump you to a lower tax bracket depending on your income saving you many percent in taxes for that year. Of course clearing out the current year inventory usually is additional incentive for salesmen. Also ford fleet often has additional discounts if you are a fleet buyer. Only thing you need to be a fleet buyer is to have your business paperwork. You can still buy just one truck under their fleet program.

The last Ford I bought, was an 08 F150 XLT. It had the 5.4 Triton V8, 3.73 rear end, crew cab with the 6 1/2 ft bed. It stickered for just over 35k. I got it out the door for 28k! That's where truck prices need to be! My current truck is a 16 Ram 2500, Laramie, diesel, short bed. I bought it in April of 17. It was a dealer demo,. It only had 6k miles on it. I got it for 50k and some change out the door with a factory certified extended warranty! I still own this truck. Only has 60k on it now. I use it to mainly pull our camper and side x side.

If those F150's had only kept up with inflation over the last 35 years, those $45K trucks would only be $30K now and the $70K trucks would only be $35K. Analysts have shown that 51% of the increase in prices for all products wasn’t inflation, but manufacturers increased markups. In other words, from food to trucks, 51% of the increases from 2020 wasn’t supply chain or other obstacles. It was greed that companies used inflation numbers much worse than it should have been. And after inflation started to drop, they decided to keep the markups. It wasn’t a secret. Many companies announced it during their stockholders meetings.

I can get a new remanufactured transmission from GM for 2300 and a new engine from Powertrain products for around 2800 when it needs a new engine etc. With the body in new condition it was cheaper to go that route than to lose 70 grand on a new one.
