I really don't know what the movie has to do with male chauvinism. Revathi's love dies accidentally. What do u want her to be ? To lead her life with his thoughts? Her parents don't forcefully seperate her from her love becuz of honour and all , if that was the case I would agree with u guys' view on chauvinism in this movie. But that's not the case. Her parents find a good guy for her who happens to accept her past and tries to lead his life with her. If mohan on knowing her past had sent her to her home or if he had forcefully engaged with her physically u would say it is male chauvinism. Anything trendy or anything trendy ppl do is appreciated nowadays! Lol . An epic is an epic , mocks on it doesn't fade its magnificence.

@praveen kumar I agree with the first part of ur comment. Her marriage was arranged without her concern, the reason behind that might be if her family wait for her approval chances are she may not agree to her marry him or anyone brooding on the thoughts of her post her. And I don't think he purposely made her feel guilty or behaved rude in front of her parents to let them know their bitter relationship. Seeing it that way I feel like it's exaggerated perception. I see his behaviour as simply the reflection of hers: on their outing she asks for divorce, telling him to get his hands of her (the scene shows the struggling of feelings whether to brood on her lost love's thought or to accept the new one) , insulting him in front his colleagues by locking herself alone inside a room ( which is reflected in his behaviour towards her parents) . etc. He purposely behaves yes. not to make her feel guilty over her past but to make her move on and accept her new life . Seeing the movie in male chauvinism frame is simply a exaggerated misconception in my opinion.

The most disturbing part in that movie was the first night scene. It made me cringe so much. The groom has only spoken to the bride once ... for a few minutes (that too about her not agreeing to getting married) before marriage . It was not appropriate to start touching and kissing her without even asking for consent especially fully knowing that she was not interested to get married. This is not a hook up or one night stand to immediately jump into bed with mere strangers. It's a marriage, an emotional bond should be formed and the physical aspect should come LATER . Sex should be with love among married people....( unless they both chose to do it just for lust then it's their wish BUT IT SHOULD BE CONSENTED by both parties. Without consent it is definitely a rape...hence the term marital rape.
