Mount Airy, North Carolina, is the real Mayberry depicted in the 1960's show 'The Andy Griffith Show ' and is the real home of Andy Griffith.
Even though this is a famous small town in North Carolina it is rich in history and it offers so much more.
Charming shops, antiquing , lots of little eateries , coffee shops and is very animal friendly.
Andy and Barney would love this town even more today.

I have always wanted to visit Mount Airy because of the Mayberry connection. But you have shown me a lot of cool shopping ideas here. I love antiqueing - and my husband collects vintage toys for his man cave. So we will have to come check this place out soon. Thanks for giving us a tour!

My dad was raised in the area back in the 60's He got his clothes in Mount Airy when he was a boy

My grandma was born just down the road at Pilot Mountain. I've been to Mt. Airy several times and have always enjoyed the trip. It does make you think that you are in Mayberry. The statue of Andy that was in a store window, I saw that same one on American Pickers.I even ask the guy about it but he never said where he got it. Connie would enjoy going back.
