My favourite hike this one. I’m keen to do it again.

If you were to look at some of my emergency response videos, Mt Barney gets lots of rescues simply because of how difficult it is. This is just me estimating but from what I have seen there are about maybe 20 - 30 rescues a year on Mt Barney, also some fatalities sadly. It’s definitely a trek for more advanced mountaineers. I was also out fighting the fires on Mt Barney last year and it certainly is amazing to see all the vegetation growing back again! Awesome video my guy 👍

Nice vid mate. I think I'll worry about Mt Barney another day. I chatted on FB the other day with you on your Cooloola Great Walk vid. I went mountain biking on the Boundary Trail in the Snowy Mtns last year. After 11 km and pushing the bike up some very steep hills I was done. Problem was it was just as bad getting back.

Cool video. Great editing. Subscribed. I have been aiming to do this, but have heard it's quite a challenge. Been doing alot of camping there though. Did Mt Maroon 2 weeks ago and that was a good hike.

I really want to do this because I’m addicted to conquering mountains, but watching this makes my feet and palms sweat with fear.

I did Barney July last year and chanced a very clear day. I did nearly fall to death during the scramble near the peak and said I'd never do it again.... But after seeing your vid I want to give it another crack!!!

Great video mate looks very different after fires have been through. I know this area very well after many Outdoor Ed bushwalks with students. Best time of the year for weather is probably May - October. Cheers

Really like your video. I have done this solo twice, it took me 6 hours and 20 mins in good weather. And I just went Mezzanine Ridge yesterday, much harder than south east ridge but had a lot of fun.

Ripper video mate, loved the drone footage. Sucks it was foggy.. I did this in Feb 2018. Up SE Ridge down Peasants. I remember a real sketchy part near the false summit, climbing up a rocky bit where there was some water. Didn't see anyone the whole hike! Got lost 3 times, (Once heading up and twice coming down a bit before the bit cutout tree to walk through. Backtracking and focusing hard on tree steam wear where hikers hold on when passing by helped a lot getting back on track! As well as the odd ribbon or triangle). Phone battery died on the way down soo couldn't use wikiloc. Lucky there was water at a creek crossing before Rum Jungle campsite otherwise I would have ran out. I took up 4L but wasn't enough. The clearest sunny day, fed big skinks by hand up the top, Army choppers doing laps around the mountain and big hawks circling in the sky. Cooled off at the lake down the bottom and had leg cramps the last 2 hours. Was an absolute ripper and looking back I can't believe I did it. Not the same fitness now that's for sure. I'll go back before it warms up!! I have a video of my Mt Barney hike on my KZfaq

Another great video. Mt Barney can be dangerous and people have died.

Best advice I can give you is dump that krapmandu equipment! There was a saying in the serious hiking groups while I lived in NZ. You only buy Kathmandu if you want to get rescued! I was involved in some very serious near deaths of other hikers due to multiple equipment failures. While living in NZ. I bought some of their gear many years ago thinking it was decent stuff. But it's not and can leave you in a pi kle when things break suddenly. They also don't want to acknowledge equipment failure or honor warranties! I climbed Barney around the same time you did after the fires. Carried around 23kg for an overnighter. It snowed not far to the south and could see a light dusting of snow down on Bald Rock to the south.

So i finally ended up doing the S.E Ridge!! Did it a month ago with a group of mates, it was awesome!! The view was crystal clear but windy as hell. Still enjoyed it regardless. But i topped it with Logans Ridge a couple of days ago, if you haven't done that one yet, definitely give it a go. Especially if you like rock scrambling! Although i will say this, you will learn a new definition for painful legs!! Hahaha

Summer climbing will be brutally hot. Be careful.

Climbed the south east Ridge in constant rain.... Not a wise decision but an experience it was 😅😅
