It was a hot day in June, with the temperature peaking above 45C (113F). But because the chili dogs at the Cosmic Café on top of Mount Wilson are really good, and I needed another consecutive day with 2,000 m (6,500 ft) of climbing for my training, and we're kinda nuts, Josh and I went for it. The descent is one of my favorite in all of Southern California. With a few stops and transitions, it can take almost 2 hours to ride down from the café. It's gorgeous! Somewhere on middle Sam Merrill, I broke my right clipless pedal. So I had to descend most of it one-footed. Not ideal!
