AIV is the Associazione Italiana di Vulcanologia. The AIV's primary objectives are: a) The organization and promotion of Conventions, national and international study conferences, excursions, aimed at deepening volcanological knowledge and the problems connected to the protection of natural heritage, resources and volcanic risk. b) The commitment to work to improve the conditions of teaching and training in the field of Volcanology and to affirm its didactic, educational and professional values ​​also through the organization of schools and refresher courses; c) Support the action of other national and international institutions that carry out activities to spread basic geological culture and its application aspects; d) collaboration with national and international organizations interested in spreading volcanological culture also by following schemes and procedures agreed with the National Civil Protection and other similar ones existing in other countries of the European Community and outside the EU; e) The promotion of communication and exchange of knowledge between Volcanology and other disciplinary areas, even outside of Earth Sciences (Engineering, Archaeology, Agriculture, etc.), creating and disseminating bibliographic services and support for training activities, also for specific professional figures in these areas; f) The promotion of initiatives aimed at encouraging the presence of scholars of volcanological disciplines in interprofessional bodies of a public and private nature; g) Promoting interaction between Universities, Research Institutions, Public Bodies, Professional Orders and Companies. The Association is strictly non-partisan and apolitical.
