Gnarly is one of the first black trails I rode at China Peak and remains one of my favorites. It's probably the easiest of the blacks, in my opinion. One thing I really like is that it's got a lot of variation and several alternate lines. This video is a full run from the top to the bottom, but I do this one in more of a tutorial fashion. I stop a few times and show you a few alternate lines that are different than what I ride. If you're itching to ride a black diamond at China Peak, I'd recommend this one. You can ride the upper "Gnarly Flow" and then decide if you want to finish it. If not, there's a little line back up to the fire road right before the rock garden. The rock garden is a Double Black Diamond Line. The alternate line is still Black Diamond and more difficult than the upper part of the trail. Once you get past the rock garden, there's a big granite roll. The trail gets tighter and more densely wooded the rest of the way down. You've got bridges, some small creeks, a few more rocky sections and a little bit of pedaling.
