MOUNTAIN PAGODA - Snowy Escape | Sims 4 Speed Build
In this video I am building a Mountain Pagoda on the new HIDDEN LOT of the Mountain Top of Mount Komorebi in the new The Sims 4 Snowy Escape Expansion Pack.
Please be so kind to explain and answer some question about Pagodas and their purpose in the comments in a healthy and educational manner. I really appreciate it.

Or maybe a sacred mountain temple for those who seek enlightenment and ultimate knowledge from the world's oldest books/scrolls to risk their lives getting to it! So many ideas 😁. It's gorgeous! I saw the thumbnail and knowing the pagoda was built by you, had to watch it immediately. The peak really seems like the perfect place for it! 😍 However, as I commented on Leo's pagoda build, the number 4 is considered extremely unlucky in China and Japan, because it is pronounced the same way as the word "death" (si in Chinese, shi in Japanese) - and they have a lot of superstition (and jokes!) surrounding homophones. So a holy place like a pagoda would never have four stories. If you can cheat another level somehow, that would be better - or just keeping it to three stories. I know that it's not easy to build something from a culture you hardly know anything about, but that's what the comment section is for, right? 😉 I guess all of us will be learning many things about Japan going forward. 🤓
@Simproved
@Simproved 3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, in the wikipedia article it said these only have an odd number of stories,but it never says why. I just assume that maye the ending sound for odd numers brings more luck? Is it that maybe? I honestly thought people are going to shredd me into SJW pieces or something,because I dared to build a Pagoda. But after your comment I might do it again,because I really want to, and then even do a big temple build on a bigger lot with all the packs we have to recreate it as best I can. I have an idea about the 5th story I could add, but that need further testing. Thanks so much, have a lovely day!

This is a beautiful build and I would love to see it when the pack is released. I don't know if the answer has come up yet, but when I was studying abroad in Japan, someone was telling me about the beam of wood in the pagoda. At least in ancient times, this was suspended in the center of the pagoda and when earthquakes struck, the suspended beam would take the force of the earthquake away from the actual structure and allow it to remain standing. This is why so many of Japan's ancient buildings survived to modern times.

have to say, for not having a clue about what to do with a pagoda, you did just fine building your own, i'm not asian, but i love Japan, and have studied it's architecture fervently for many years, and btw, while originally used as shrines and places of importance, i can note only one real pagoda in the US, and it was shipped piece by piece from Japan, and is a hotel, so, i think most people who really study pagodas, or who really have wanted one as a house their whole lives, like me, will say it's just fine, and that we should probably build more stuff like them because they certainly add a great deal of beauty to their surroundings, in fact you've inspired me, i may just build my own pagoda for my 6 sim household XD

Wood is pretty material good to build actually outside of fire. Especially more mature trees. Wood is flexible so it's better for earthquakes concrete is actually worse. This is why most concrete buildings have steel beams for support. Most older builds would have made older mature wood which is better to prevent wood rot, even fires are slower burn so quick. I remember watching some guy youtube who was I guess could say a handyman talking. There was a another video I watched where these ppl were building a wooden skyscraper.
