It's so hot I can't breathe ... i know, lets go hiking. 😅

You missed the point...it's colder at high elevation. Going hiking is a great way to beat the heat. It's just hotter than usual right now. Still, the mountains are barely touching the 90s while the valley is well over 100. Altitude always lowers temperature. People just don't know how to properly hydrate when they hike. It's perfectly reasonable to hike in these conditions, I do it all the time.

Just in case this is unclear, the entire South West is a desert and is one of the hottest places on earth. It will always get to 118 degrees in the summer in Phoenix, Tucson, Palm Springs, and Vegas like it has for hundreds of years. In fact, most heat records were set a hundred years ago.

They didn’t have thermometers back then it keep track. Them areas were historically uninhabited until horses come. They couldn’t get up and down the cliffs to the water. Had to live right by it.

People are dumb, why would you be hiking in this heat without at least your body weight in water?
@geometerfpv2804
@geometerfpv2804 Ай бұрын
It's really not that extreme, the people that need rescue are dummies. I have hiked every weekend of the heatwave. Never needed more than 3 liters of water. Just need basic fitness and some sun protection. People go out with nothing on and a tiny water bottle and it makes headlines like this. It's really not particularly dangerous.

You're in Nevada. Where do you think you're going to hide from the heat except indoors.

The mountains usually do the trick, it's not an unreasonable thought. Even now, they are much colder than the valley. I am in socal. Valley is 100 degrees, mountains are 80 degrees. It makes sense.

@@geometerfpv2804 California is off an ocean. Nevada is not. There are also places in California that people go to hike and have to be rescued for the same thing. Heat exhaustion. Or they're found months later.

Hiking in the heat, 1 1/2 liters is enough water for about one maybe two hours. I'd recomend bringing at least a gallon, no matter what. Could save your life, or someone else's.

Just look up the spreadsheet of historical values, no need to count on the "color". Factually, it's record-breaking. Not by a huge amount, but yes, it is hotter.
