Check out the full build of an IBC tote hunting blind. For this build I tried a few different design elements to make the build simpler and to hopefully improve the blind. This will be a great little blind for deer hunting.

Just a tip, I cut these up as part of my job daily. On the square tubing just use bolt cutters, it’s way easier, faster, and less expensive. Plus it somewhat pinched the open tubing closed.

I love projects like this, you did a great job! I built a blind out of 2 truck bed liners, then I got a tripod stand. I welded a floor for the blind then married the two. It sits on a hillside, I poured concrete footers in 16" PVC pipe to anchor the feet & doubled the cross braces, solid. I used 3 IBC totes to build an off-grid septic system, all encased in grout on sides and concrete on top, with a 16" access into each one.

Just now seen your replay and thanks the sliding window work great for easy opening when the deer come and there for keeping the shack warm but love the window idea you had and the play wood door idea in the over view video i just cut the bottom piece and used hinges to make a door and crawed in through the bottom the play wood is a good idea

Man we have a bunch of these laying around in our yard at work. Never would’ve thought to use them as blinds. Hell in a pinch, I could just use the plastic cubes alone on the ground

Hey Mixalot! Absolutely! these things really come in handy. They are pretty tight, so I'd use the bigger totes if possible. Thanks for checking out my channel!

Styrofoam sheeting on the under side of base would help keep that metal floor from freezing your feet. The tote liner cutout to make a doorway could be hinged and used as a door. Don't know where your at but it gets friegin' cold here in Nebraska; anything to hold/generate heat keeps you in the stand longer is a must.

Hey CARFV! Thanks so much for the recommendations. Great ideas! I actually built my first one with a door (with slider window) and I like the door better for sure. Good call on the insulation 👍🏻

A lot of portable toilet places have old porta John’s the will get rid of. The tanks/ toilets just come right out of them. Then you just need to put a wood floor on it and cut your windows in it. The handicapped ones are wonderful as they are quite a bit larger.

Hey huntinjunkie thanks for checking out my channel. I used plywood for a door on a previous build (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ar2jh65exqusmI0.html) and it worked out pretty good. I also built a really nice blind out of a bigger water tank kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nbCPZ7ajla3IoHU.html

Hey Todd, thanks for checking out my channel! I live in the Pocono mountains of PA. I have mostly wooded and rocky land that’s all uphill. It’s definitely not the easiest to maneuver or hunt, but I really like it.

How do those windows and door handle the wind? I’m hoping to pick up a couple totes this winter for a blind project myself.
@mountainbuck
@mountainbuck Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff! The windows hold up pretty good. I’m not a big fan of this style door to be honest. I previously made a door out of plywood with slider windows for a different tote blind and I prefer that style much more. Thanks for watching and best of luck with your project! 👍🏻

By mounting the sliding windows on the interior it allows for rain intrusion. Possible to mount the windows on the exterior with a rain drip guard at the top?
@mountainbuck
@mountainbuck Жыл бұрын
Hey robinloucks1351, thanks for checking out my channel! It would definitely be a challenge to keep this thing water-tight. Good ideas on the exterior windows and rain guard! If I build another one, I will definitely keep that in mind. 👍🏻

The plastic you cut out for the door way you could put a spring on it for your door it would keep the cold air from coming in. Also I would use one way tint on the window so nothing could see in. That's just me.

Hi Mountain Buck I have a few questions. I am just wondering if you know anything about if the totes are ok to use for this if the used to hold chemicals in them? How long did it take you to make this? And have you ever thought about making one like this that could hold 2+ people and do you think it would work?
@mountainbuck
@mountainbuck 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jerod, you definitely want to think about what may have been inside of the totes. The ones I use have food products inside, so no worries about chemicals there. I haven’t thought about making a two person blind yet and it will take a solid few hours. Best of luck!

@mountainbuck

Hey that is a good question. This thing doesn’t close up tight or anything with any style of window. I might just use the plastic cutouts and screw them on with hinges.
