May 17, 2024 - Day 1 of 6 on the MST. Segment 4. After changing plans and switching from the Appalachian Trail, I started the hike at Black Mountain Campground and hiked as far as I could to get to the edge of the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area. I needed to be able to hike through the Linville Gorge area on day 2 since it was a weekend and I didn't have a permit.
