A lot of us kids don't realize how much some parents do until we get into adulthood. I'm blessed to have such parents and only found out that they have debts here and there and a lot of it was for my education. I've been giving a portion of my salary consistently for 12 years now and you know where all that money went? Straight into a bank account my mom opened under my name. The only way I can actually give back is to buy stuff myself and hand it to her cause she would never take cash from me.

It must be such a shock to her parents, given her condition, I'm sure they must have realized they were going to have to take care of her and she wasn't going to be able to pay them back for anything medically. Yeah, our pride never let us ask for help, does it? My mother Is the oldest of 11 siblings and she basically raised them all, to the point that one of my aunts actually believed that she was her mom, not her sister, and my grandparents were always working, my grandfather literally worked until the day he died (suffered a stroke got hospitalized, and never waked up) and my grandmother only stopped working when one of her fingers literally fell out, and she had to be hospitalized for her rampaging diabetes, and even then she wouldn't ask my mother for help. Now my mother doesn't want to retire, she just wants to keep doing her life, even in her nineties, and God forgive if she ever ask me for money.

My dad sent 4 kids to college on a single income. Impossible today, but still pretty damn hard in the late 80s to early 2000s. He gave me a small loan to make repairs when I bought my house. When he retired he asked me help with his 401k and I found out there was virtually nothing in it because he had been borrowing against it to take care of me and my siblings. After I paid back the loan he gave me, I just kept sending him the same amount I had been every month. He deserves to enjoy his retirement, God knows he's earned it. @@morganqorishchi8181 I'm from Latin America too, and I would say that the "I don't deserve this" and the "wanting to solve all the issues by yourself" mentalities are very real. It comes from a lot of people being poor and having big family households with many children, grand parents, aunts/uncles, etc. under the same roof. There is a lot of insecurity, but also a lot of pride in being able to make your family happy. Of course, this doesn't apply to everybody. Also, Kizuna Ai is basically the progenitor of all of them, but I would potentially put Melody in front of Mousey, as someone who really put the idea of a vtuber-style persona out there (she got a lot of attention originally for the CB stuff), at least on the American side. And we have to remember, we're looking at this from an American perspective and vtubing generally grew out of Japan. Also, if we're going by the VERY FIRST, that would be Ami Yamato (2011). Also, Kaguya Luna and Mirai Akari would be the two that came after Kizuna, so they would be considered the "first three" (even though even by the modern standards they weren't the first, just the first to popularize it). It's really hard to give an official "top/first" ranking other than Kizuna Ai, honestly. After her it's just personal taste.

I get people being against the instant rise of our virtual waifu overlords, but I stand by that Mousey genuinely deserves the success she's found. She's a great person that was held back by a lack of confidence in herself Vtubing has helped her with. Edit: At this point I thought I should mention: When I spent two minutes writing this comment two months ago, I didn't think it would require explanation and was kind of avoiding trying to explain it and restart the chain of comments that keep popping up in my feed because I don't want to completely disable reply updates because I keep getting responses over this one comment but: When I said I get people being against the rise of Vtubers, I was thinking about the Miyazaki quote of “You must see with eyes unclouded by hate. See the good in that which is evil, and the evil in that which is good." Being the dude who speaks out against something everyone else on the internet is calling an absolute good that can do no wrong is *theoretically* not a bad idea, not that I was defending how fucking far we've strayed from that. I felt it was wrong to spell it out from how fucking far we've strayed from seeing the good in that which is evil ourselves. When I said Mousey is held back by a lack of confidence and not her medical condition, I don't want her to do a face reveal at this point, but there is no fucking way we would have rejected who she is if she started streaming in person instead of using a digital avatar. The notion that she is only successful because she paid for an anime girl tech is *bullshit.* I didn't think this would be that unclear. I'm just really tired of people replying.

@@kirshi8492 don't worry about it. it's not like i give two shits about those 2 anyway. not anymore anyway. their other brother and sister however are good people. we adopted them cause my mother firstly always wanted more kids than what she was able to have. she's a very loving person but, my little sister almost killed her due to complications when she was born, so they had to basically make it so she couldn't have kids anymore to save her life. so she turned to adoption later on and we found these four kids who were, basically coming from a situation like you described in terms of how they're situation was. it wasn't a literal actual dump site, but their circumstances might as well have been given how fucked up their past was. for a good long time things were good, but eventually the one started stealing, lying, saying stuff about us that wasn't true to people around town trying to destroy our reputation, and eventually even got a girl knocked up before eventually abandoning her too. to this day he blames everything on us...despite us taking him to places like China, Disney World, Cruises, Quebec etc. getting him into a good private school, i put myself in danger of getting arrested for him when a kid with a real shady reputation wanted to fight him and i stood up for him telling him to back off unless he wanted to face me. i was still an adult at the time and still had many years of martial arts training at the time. but even still, that all meant nothing to him. we're still the bad guys. as for the other one, he's pretty much the same. a liar and a thief. he stole 4k from my grandfather who's health is failing him slowly but surely, again blames everything on us despite EVERYTHING we got on him for was because of his own fault, and apparently when my mom phoned him to tell him about me breaking my jaw and getting 9 stitches after a siezure i had he said "call me when it's something important". sorry that turned into a bit of a novel.

I can actually relate to this in a small way. My mom has some financial struggles but she always made sure we kids had what we needed. And as soon as I got a good job that made really good money I took her on a trip down to the coast. Once we where there I paid for everything, the hotel, all the shopping, all the food and everything else. the whole weekend cost me about 1500 euros wich might not sound like alot, but to my family thats a small fortune. And even though she protested and cried about me spending so much money just to make her happy I could tell just how much it meant to her that I had made it to a point where I could do that. And to this day I take every possibility I can to spoil her, in fact im taking her to Iceland this fall, she just dont know yet. She always wanted to go there and now she will.
